Old Fashion with a wee bit of charm

Posted 12-Sep-2017
We spent two nights at the hotel. It was a ways from Inverness (farther than we thought) and not much in terms of things to do locally. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I found the rooms to be dated and the shower was very small. The best feature was the ocean views and walking trail. We left very early and they only had a night cleaning crew person who tried charging us again for a prepaid room. I had to dig through my emails to find the receipt.

Great room view & location; needs refurbishment

Posted 28-Aug-2017
Pros: The beautiful view on the sea side; the view from the brasserie; the hotel potential services : swimming pool, gym
Cons: Hotel needs refurbishment;Rooms comfort ;The cleanness of swimming pool, tables at the brasserie ; room cleaning...
Location: walk along the sea side; the golf; not far from Inverness
When we saw the hotel we were impressed from the outside, the reception welcome was nice; but when you enter the rooms you are a bit disappointed as the comfort is basic ( beds quality, facilities, toilets, etc) , the corridors carpets are old & seem dirty. In general the hotel needs to be refurbished with a focus of management on customer services , on cleanness ( swimming pool, rooms, brasserie tables) . The breakfast service was overall good. It can become an excellent hotel if the basics are taken back into consideration.

Bad Value

Posted 28-Aug-2017
Pros: Views
Cons: Almost everything
We booked two rooms at the Golf View, one for ourselves and one for friends. Beautiful location and views but that is where it ends. Poor service and very bad attitude from the staff. The food was pub grub at best. It is a typical Scottish hotel, very tired and needs lots of money spending on it. But at over £200 a night, plus breakfast, you would have thought they would have the funds available. Obviously not. There is better value elsewhere, believe me.

Could be a nice hotel but...

Posted 23-Aug-2017
Pros: Nice bar and it looked like a nice dining room. We did not eat there.
Cons: CLEANLINESS of rooms.
Location: We stayed there as we were to golf at Nairn Golf Club. Not much else to do nearby - you need to drive to get to town.
We arrived and the hotel lobby was pleasing and check in was smooth. We got to our room via a tiny elevator and the carpets were filthy, which made us suspect as to the rest of the room. Bathroom was fine and bedding seemed fresh. My husband spoke to the staff downstairs and was told "Look at the view and not the carpets." The front desk staff had told him that the hotel was in the "que for money to refurbish." That does not mean let the place go. We tried a damp washcloth with a bit of soap on it on one of the spots and it cleaned easily. Obviously, they do not care about their facility. The stairwell leaned in different directions as you walked downstairs to the lobby - which isn't the worst thing - but makes you concerned about the overall condition of the building. Also, I do not think that Expedia has reviewed this hotel in quite awhile since they gave the hotel 4 stars.

Nice staff, disappointing rooms

Posted 17-Jul-2017
We found signs of poor housekeeping, dusty/smeary surfaces, dirty spoon on the carpet so told reception. Accepted offer of a suite, but that had a bad smell! Wife went to use the loo & discovered the cause of the smell! Apology but no good will gesture or reflection in the bill, thought it merited something? Oh well guess not. The suite was only available that night, so we changed back to the original room, which had been cleaned. Their best asset is their staff (not housekeeping). Two ladies at reception were really helpful with advice directions. Seemed appalled about the toilet & made the Manager aware, so as I say disappointed there was no effort to make up for it. Also told them about the smell of urine in a corner of the room, which my Wife noticed as she packed (so that was as we checked out) & they sent a member of staff to investigate.

Needs a refurb

Posted 12-Jul-2017
Pros: Location - on the water and walk to golf.
Cons: The entire inside needs to be re-done.
Location: In town of Nairn
The hotel looks grand from the outside but is old and tired inside. For the expense we were expecting much nicer. Our dinner reservation was messed up but the staff went above and beyond to make us happy and that was really nice

Golden Wedding Celebration

Posted 26-Jun-2017
Pros: The friendly relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel.
Location: The location has many things to offer, walking, fantastic golf courses nearby, castles to explore and other attractions for the whole family.
We spent two nights at the hotel, the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Our room was very comfortable and had a beautiful view of the beach below and across the Moray Firth. We had a choice of fine dining in the Dining Room or less formal in the Conservatory, both were excellent. The swimming pool and spa offered relaxation and the general atmosphere and ambiance of the Hotel contributed to a most enjoyable weekend. We would highly recommend this Hotel.

Stayed for a week, hot tub was nice to have, as I was playing golf everyday. Close to everything in town, with a spectacular view.

Terrible Hotel on Nice Beach

Posted 22-May-2017
This hotel was dirty, smelly, outdated with entirely useless features like a pant press and senior hand rails. The food was terrible as was the restaurant itself. Unless there's an entirely different side to this hotel that I was unable to find, this is a clear DO NOT STAY situation.
