Eastnor is a beautiful 17th century property which sleeps 4+2 guests, in three well presented bedrooms, with a family bathroom. This end of terrace Cotswold stone cottage has been lovingly refurbished in a contemporary style, retaining a wealth of character features including exposed Cotswold stone walls, original beams, flagstone flooring and two roaring wood burning stoves, as well as exposed wooden flooring on the first floor and in the eaves. At the rear of the property is a courtyard garden which leads up to the spacious roof terrace, and there is ample free on-street parking close to the property.
Conveniently located in the bustling market town of Moreton-in-Marsh, Eastnor is just a stone's throw from the well-regarded pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes the town has to offer. Straddling the ancient Fosse Way, the town (affectionately known as 'Moreton' by locals) was once an important staging post, and this is reflected in the impressive architecture that still remains. There are a number of handsome coaching inns dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries and in the centre of the town stands the Redesdale Market Hall, a prominent feature on the high street. Every Tuesday the town plays host to the largest street market in the Cotswolds, with 200 stalls selling everything from delicious local produce to leather goods and clothing. The town also has a cricket ground with regular fixtures, and adjacent to this are the Queen Victoria Gardens, a well-maintained park complete with children's playground.
Located in the Evenlode Valley, Moreton is surrounded by the fantastic countryside of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep to explore. The Monarch's Way long distance walking trail passes through the town on towards Batsford Arboretum and the picturesque village of Blockley, home to two popular pubs and a community owned village shop and cafe. Moreton benefits from having a train station with direct links to London, Oxford and Birmingham, and there are good bus links to the much-loved locations of Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden and Broadway. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Blenheim Palace and Cheltenham can also be easily accessed for day trips.
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own any of the cottages listed on our website. We manage a proportion of cottages within our portfolio and the remaining properties are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for your property manager. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner. For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival. All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
A security deposit of £100 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit. The security deposit is payable prior to arrival at the property, via a bank transfer or a valid debit or credit card.
The maximum occupancy of the property is six guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than six guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by up to two additional infants.
Up to two medium sized dogs are accepted, at a cost of £20 per booking per dog.
For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure.
Please note that there is a roof terrace and a small courtyard outside the kitchen, however guests may prefer to take dogs across to the grassy area opposite the property to stretch their legs.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 5pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Bedroom 3 (first floor): Bunk beds
Family bathroom (first floor): Bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin
Heating, fuel and logs
The property has a gas central heating system.
Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stoves between October and March and further log supplies can be purchased locally.
The property has free wireless internet access, a Smart TV with Apple TV and Netflix subscription, a DAB radio and Smart speaker.
There is no telephone at the property.
Mobile phone reception is generally OK.
Free on-street parking is readily available a short walk away from the property (luggage can be unloaded directly outside the cottage).
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen), stair gate and high chair are available on request.
Please note that due to space restrictions in bedroom 3, travel cots would need to be located in the master bedroom or bedroom 2.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, handful of Nespresso capsules, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property with many character features including narrow and steep stairs, low beams and multiple floors, all of which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
The external spiral staircase to the roof terrace can be slippery in wet weather, however there is an alternative access point via bedroom 3.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property. Please note that guests are permitted to smoke in the outside areas provided including the small courtyard and on the roof terrace.
The Aga is lit between October and April and can be requested for the summer months during the booking process. In the summer the kitchen can become quite hot due to the heat from the Aga, so guests may prefer to leave the Aga unlit and use the gas barbecue, four-ring gas hob and microwave as alternatives.
In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.
