Do not book this hotel.

The room was dirty and not cleaned,I trod on a 2" pin/needle left in the carpet, fortunately it did not go into my foot. The window had a 1 1/2" gape on the top and bottom witch looked dangerous. I gave the pin/needle to the reception and a supervisor came to our room to investigate. He showed me another room but the condition was the same dirty and the window in the same condition. We asked to speak to the manager as nobody seemed to care, we were told that he would be with us in10 minutes but he never arrived. Later the receptionist informed us that the manager had gone home, that is how much they care about the hotel and the people who stay there. If the management don't care how can the staff be expected to do a good job if they are not trained and the managers do not care.

It is a great hotel! I could not believe the size of the room and the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will stay there again if my path leads me to Medan.

Location: Tjong A Fie Mansion,Masjid raya, Istana Maimoon at 10M by walk
I can walk at 10 minutes from the station where you arrive at the airport. There is a famous tourist attraction around the hotel. Tjong A Fie Mansion,Masjid raya, Istana Maimoon.

My first I had cockroach and ants in the bathroom. They changed my room, and was water on the bathroom floor.My phone barely worked. The wifi didn't work. I do e-commerce therefore I can't work without internet. I reported to the reception, they hotel is full. My friend and his wife had separate room and because of all the carpet dust his wife asthma got worse. The breakfast buffet was mediocre at the best. I booked for 6 nights and to leave on my 3rd day. My friend and his wife had to leave on the 2nd day because the wife had to be treated for her asthma. I would advise everyone to stay away from this hotel.

Bad shower facility. Inferior breakfast quality!!

The bathroom should be refurbished. The breakfast quality should reflect a 4 star hotel and not a 2 star!!! I have been staying in this hotel since year 2000. I am surprise not much has changed.

I would only recommend this hotel if you are a smoker. I was moved to the non smoking floor on level 10 but somehow there remains a background level of nicotine. This is particularly obvious in the large breakfast area, where the non smoking section is within the same room but you have to walk through the smokers to reach the buffet. Sun Plaza is only a short sidecar taxi ride away, as is the grand mosque and royal palace.

Location: Not far from the main railway station and Centre Point mall. Not far from the Sultan's Palace and the Grand Mosque
Once a truly grand hotel. The foyer is stunning. But now it is falling into decline. No-one seems to worry about the Non Smoking signs - the staff do not enforce them. Even on Non-smoking floors there were men sitting around smoking. Some of the staff speak a little English but I was never sure they understood me (maybe that's my fault for not learning some Indonesian). Room service is shocking - I waited 20 minutes for a glass. If large groups of people are staying there (as was the case during my 2 weeks there) then the lifts are unable to cope. I recommended a lift marshall but that was merely smiled at. The laundry service is good.

I enjoy my stay there good music and friendly staff
