Kept awake by the staff.

Posted 11-Sep-2017
Pros: It looked nice
Cons: Booking in time, staff atgitude, better dining facilities, better signage and better stsff.
Couldn't check in until 3pm. There were eating facilities if you wanted a bar meal, no other option. Signage left a lot to be desired. Not only myself, but my friend and other guests were asking where certainrooms or places were, as the signage was either nonexistant or misleading. The worst part was being woken up at 11:30pm. by inconsiderate people inthe next room... the typical loud chatting and laughing, banging doors and moving furniture, even some people chatting to the occupants from outside...right outside my bedroom window. After tolerating this for an hour, I contacted the hotel staff, asking for a solution.....I was told I would get a call back inv5 mins. ( this did not happen) the noise did abate about 5 mins after my call. But not for long. I called again after 30 mins. This time no answer. Then again.... I packed and was ready to leave at 2:15am. At approx. 2.30am while looking for some hotel staff, I noticed that one of the people going in and out of the room causing all the noise wss a member of staff...... I was so angry, I knew I would need to calm dkwn before I tackled this. At 3.30am it did go quiet.

Hotel staff mostly unhappy and not very helpful. Didn't offer info on wifi or other odd ball issues like the shower

Poor. Hotel needs modernising. No batteries in TV remote, no fans provided even though it was 35 degrees! Won't stay here again

personal possession thrown away after checkout

Posted 16-Jun-2017 on Hotels
left toothbrush and toothpaste after checkout, went back to hotel, told that house keeping would have thrown it away, very unhelpful reception staff, had to insist that they check lost property list, then had to insist to check the room. Very negative experience, received no apology at all from the staff member, but yes they were quite correct, housekeeping had just thrown them away. The lack of apology and even the lack of understanding that this was my property ... inexcusable. A shame, really, I had a reasonable stay overall.

A Gem of a hotel.

What a Gem!!!!! A lovely hotel set in spacious grounds, full of character unlike the chain hotels. Ample free parking and friendly and helpful reception. The room was clean and fresh with nice d├ęcor and ample space. Bathroom spotless. Plenty of tea, coffee, etc. The breakfast, included in the price, was excellent and the surroundings spacious and tasteful. All in all a real pleasure to stay at. I thoroughly recommend Oakwood House Hotel.

Very interesting area of Maidstone and the hotel's building is untypical. The food was very good, reasonable in price, and the service was great.
