Safety issues

Posted 22-Dec-2016
Overall, its a quirky and central hotel. However, alarming that the terrace door does not lock and 'there is no key'.

location and room

Posted 08-Dec-2016
Perfect location right next to Trafalgar Square but couldn't hear a sound when inside. We were given a complementary drink when we arrived which was nice. Lovely room on top floor with terrace to sit on and even large furry rugs supplied which we used to sit out and stink our champagne! Very useful to have a kitchenette concealed behind cupboard doors! The only negative point was the continental breakfast which had rather a limited choice and the waitress was not efficient - we had to ask her for tea and coffee and the coffee was slopped down on the table with no offer to clear it up! This would not put us off and we would definitely love to stay at The Library again!

Next to the bright lights.

A little hotel with a few rooms only, interesting place and a little quirky, with friendly helpful staff. Ideally located for the Theatre district and next to Trafalgar Squre. Would I recommend it to family, friends and colleagues? Yes definitely. A lovely stay.

Stylish hotel in a great location

Posted 19-Nov-2016
We were in London for a show at the New London Theatre which was just a 10 minute walk away. Covent Garden and Leicester Square are also within a 5-10 minute walk so this made a great base from which to explore. Staff were very friendly and we received vouchers for two free drinks when we checked in. We stayed in the Bronte suite which was tastefully decorated and well equipped, however we did have trouble getting the heating to work and there was no hot water because the thermostat in the shower was broken! We enjoyed our drinks in the bar and it was also a pleasant place to enjoy breakfast. Only a continental breakfast with limited choices was on offer and we would have appreciated something warm, not necessarily a full English but alternatives such as porridge or egg on toast would have been very welcome.

Quirky hotel at a reasonable rate

Posted 09-Nov-2016 on Hotels
This is a slightly quirky hotel, room was a little dated and the curtains need cleaning and re-attaching to the rail. Nice terraced area but didn't use as it was November and dark when I arrived. Friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. Not sure why I was asked to provide identification by way of a passport or driving licence (neither of which I had with me). Some nice touches with chocolates on the bed and a personalised letter welcoming me. Ideal location in the heart of theatre land and a reasonable rate.

Not a place I would recommend

Posted 30-Oct-2016 on Hotels
it's a boutique hotel so I didn't expect 5 star hotel service however, I did not expect holey and ripped towels, no free water, damp ceiling or broken shower head. Service wasn't that good either, particularly in the morning when I'm guessing they had a 'part time' fill in, who had very little idea of customer service, he didn't know anything and wasn't much helpful to us OR to other guests. Another guest asked about postage of postcards and if she could leave it with the reception to help her post, to which he answered that he would just be putting it in the postbox down the street and that she might as well do it herself - I guess she was also expecting 5 star hotel service ... I guess it was also our unlucky day that there was no coffee or milk at breakfast time. When asked, the waiter said 'sorry, it's not been delivered today', but you're a 'hotel' serving breakfast and doing business. Wouldn't it be helpful if you just went down the street to get a bottle or carton of milk? Sorry, but I just didn't have a good experience at The Library.

Not worth the hype and price

Posted 29-Oct-2016
Pros: Very well located . Tourist attractions all around. Theatres area , restaurants and pubs.
Cons: The room was very small , the bathroom ceiling had tiles hanging from it , I rang reception to ask for something and receptionist told me he would call me back but never did , and the "included breakfast " was a joke ,had better on B&b's . When you think of a 4 star hotel and you pay £185 for one single night you are looking for quality and good service and this hotel simply doesn't have. Luckily I stayed just for one night as I just went to London to attend a play . It is definitely a no to me.
Location: It is very well located , loads of attractions around and all the theatres are just a few steps away.
