Boutique hotel in St Martin's Lane WC2

Posted 29-Sep-2017
Pros: Brilliant location and great staff
Location: Walking distance to Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Portrait Gallery, 5 Theatres ... restaurants, Location, Location. Location
A brilliant boutique hotel with only 6 rooms. The staff are very cool, friendly and professional. Nothing was a problem and they were very helpful in storing our bags for 5 hours after check out. Room was really comfortable, excellent bed, breakfast items provided each day, good shower and very quiet which did surprise us given the location is so central. surrounded by restaurants, theatres, Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc....A real find. Love it and will stay again.

Great location

Posted 07-Sep-2017
Really good but just a few comforts would make it better such as all lights working, lights by the bed needed, soap dish in shower needed and replacement of all the breakfast items each would have been nice, but otherwise it was a great place to stay and I would stay there again

Unfortunately our plane was cancelled

Interesting hotel unfortunately got in late so we could not really get to know it but good location for all the theatres probably more suited to younger people I am sure my 30 year old daughter would really enjoy it very quirky

A simply awful experience.

Pros: Nothing. Well, I suppose I enjoyed checking out until I realised how much had been added to the bill without me knowing.
Cons: Everything. This should not be a hotel. It is unfit for occupation.
Location: There's loads to do and lots of other places to stay. Please don't stay here though to go an do the things as there are far better places.
Where do you start with how bad this place is? Rude bar staff, rooms that are so noisy you might as well be in the middle of a nighclub and generally a very unpleasant environment. On arrival we were given two 'Scrabble Pieces' for 'free drinks'. Problem is that apart from what seems like either gnats urine or water you can't actually get any drinks from the bar with them so why bother giving them out? Secondly, the bar staff were extremely arrogant, unapproachable and unhelpful. They added charges to my room without informing me what they were (watch out the bar costs are horrifically expensive). The rooms were mediocre and the format for breakfast is utterly bizarre. They leave raw eggs, cheese and ham plus mouldy croissants and bread so hard it takes your teeth out for you to make a 'breakfast' with. We simply went out. The place is also a nightclub and the music was so loud in our room at midnight that you couldn't even talk to each other. The beds were mediocre, there is no real area for anyone who smokes to go (the outside area had a broken chair and 20 bags of rubbish). For £300 a night I was expecting something better than garbage but sadly garbage it was. Please for the love of all that is holy do not stay at this awful place.

Library With More Than Books To Offer.

A quirky hotel that was great as directly opposite the theatre we were visiting. The staff were all friendly, polite, well mannered and sociable. Don't be fooled by the front of the hotel as it opens up at the back and the bar is great. Interesting that breakfast is served by yourself in your own room but adequate with hard boiled eggs, cheese, ham, toast, pastries, cereals and fruit. Fridge and well stocked mini bar in room and although not much to look at from the balcony, ample room, decking, night lighting and perfect to share a bottle of wine on a warm summer evening. Walking distance Leicester Square and West End and my husband and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and we were just sorry we were there for one night only.

Great rooms in the heart of theatre land

Posted 11-Jun-2017 on Hotels
The hotel or rather bar with rooms is quirky and on St Martin's Lane so in the heart of everything. Staff were incredibly pleasant and the rooms large with the best shower I have ever tasted. The continent breakfast is set up in your room. The only downside is that events/parties in the library bar can be very loud and go on for quite sometime. Fortunately for us we had been awake all the previous night watching the election so fell asleep despite the loud combo beats from the gramophone. However had we not been so tired I think we would have found the noise disturbing.

Unbeatable Location

Posted 05-Jun-2017 on Hotels
Staying at The Library is certainly a unique experience. There are a number of positives. The hotel is in an unbeatable location for sightseeing and the theatre. There's a great view of the Colosseum across the street. Our room (#3 the Murakami Room) was large and bright. The bed was great and the pillows very nice. There's lots of storage. It's not without its problems, though. The main one being the shower. Good pressure and plenty of hot water, but it floods the room. Can't say much for the breakfasts either...a bit sparse. The bar is a whole different matter, though. Francesco makes the best Old Fashioned in London and is a lot of fun to talk to.
