This is a great please to spend a couple of days getting away from it all, smashing breakfast, loads of choice on the evening menu and the surrounding countryside offers lots of interesting walks/cycles for all abilities. Very friendly and obliging staff.

Bad booking

Posted 13-Aug-2016
We arrived after having our booking confirmed for a late arrival and found ourselves locked out as there were no staff available to let us in and had to sleep in the car. Don't know why the booking was confirmed if they weren't going to be there and to make it worse it was paid for.

Lovely place in gorgeous setting

Lovely hotel in an idillic setting beside a canal. Checking in was swift at reception. I had a comfy single room of which was small but well decorated and suitable for my one night stay. Adjoining bathroom had a shower. The bar area, restaurant and seating area with a view to the canal was very comfortable with a great menu avialable. The food was lovely. My lasting impression was how hotel cleanliness and really nice staff. I enjoyed my stay so much that i am booked to return.

Pros: Helpful and friendly staff....even went out of way to sort a meal for me after i missed closing time
Location: Lochgilphead is about 2 mile down road, if you need to do laundry you can wash and dry at the caravan park, Oban is 35 mile away ,ferries to islands
Stayed here as it was a last minute booking and nothing else available, it was within driving distance as to what i neededto do and wished to see , locals extremely friendly and helpful, after a big day of sightseeing and driving it is an alright place to sleep

Flatters to decieve

Posted 01-Jul-2016 on Hotels
Looks good from the outside but inside is a little dated and in need of a spruce up. The TV reception in my room was very, very poor and the remote control did not work. There was no view of anything other than trees and roof tiles from my room. There is NO WiFi available in the rooms only in the communal areas. I went to watch a TV program on my iPad in the residents lounge and had no issues until all the lights went out as nobody had looked to see if anyone was in the lounge? The bar food and breakfast were really good and there were a lot of people not staying at the hotel who had come in to eat. Overall this hotel was not good value for the money.

Ok but staff not helpful

Posted 29-Jun-2016 on Hotels
Ok but disappointed that breakfast unavailable before 8am on a weekday. Price paid in advance included breakfast but my meetings meant early departure and nothing at all offered for 7.30 when I asked on arrival! Also I'm 64, travelling alone and had to ask if my case could be carried upstairs on arrival ( no lift) - again a less than helpful attitude.
