Old hotel with most friendliest staff.

The rooms are just normal and old hotel rooms. I expected more on a 5 star hotel like this.

It was a great service overall the only challenge is after they clean they took towels and leave only two and we four it was us and kids so we were forced to share towels during bath

Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Shower head will spray water all over the bathroom if you're not careful
Check-in was quick, clean room and the food at each restaurant was excellent. The breakfast spread was amazing! This hotel is close to beaches and attractions.

The service here was fantastic! There was always someone there when you need them, ready and eager to help. The staff was so polite and accommodating. They really made my 1 week stay wonderful.

Excellent room, poor WiFi and poorest restaurant

Pros: Room is really good. Very comfortable, spacious, furniture, bed with good quality. Good place to rest.
Cons: Restaurant during dinner time was the weak point. The offer and quality of the food is at low level. There were no staff available at the meat preparation station, also the fies were all over the baskets wirh bread, some of the flies were staying on the bread slices. This reastaurant is few categories lower than other hotel features. Next thing it is very poor WiFi connectivity in the room, lowest speed and constant signal droping was making impossible to do anything with either laptop or with the smartphone. Luckily I had Vodacom SIM card with data connection.

Standard hotel, isolated though

The hotel was fine, not really anything special. The main drawback is the location. Unless you are attending a conference or have meetings in downtown Durban, I wouldn't stay there. It's isolated and the area is not particularly safe at night. For dinner, you either need to take a taxi or eat in the hotel. I didn't hate the stay and kept reminding myself that there is a lot of poverty in the city, and I was lucky to be staying in a nice hotel. Still, compared to other hotels on the same trip, it wasn't a highlight.

We were moved into 3 different rooms in a space of 2 days. The second room had such a bad stink like wet carpets that were never left to dry properly. Even the manager ahd to agree that the room smelt awful. We actually spent the night in that awful room. The room was under enovations so there was banging and choppin from was early as 9am on Saturday.This is the second bad experience that i have had with Hilton. Save to say that I wont be booking any accomodation with them going forward.

Very Poor Service

Cons: There is a very big problem with the service culture in this hotel. It urgently requires attention from management.
There was no-one at the front desk when I arrived. Check in ultimately took about 20 minutes. At the hotel restaurant there was initially no staff at the front desk. A guest ahead of me was served after about four minutes by a lady who said she would be back to attend to me. After a further three minutes she did not return. I approached the restaurant manager who seated me eventually. On being seated, I noticed the lady who had undertaken to seat me doing something else in a different part of the restaurant. The table at which I had been seated was sticky and had food marks on it. I called a waiter over and requested that the table be cleaned. She did not immediately deal with it. A considerable time later, she was at the adjacent table. I requested her to clean the table. She responded that she would, but in a surly and unfriendly manner. She subsequently returned to the table with a spray detergent and cloth, requesting me to clear my food so that she could clean the surface. This was inappropriate for a five star establishment. Later, I needed to pass through a narrow space between two full tables big enough for only one person to pass. Two approaching waiters made no effort to allow me to pass first, but simply walked into the space before me. I decided to order room service on the following evening. My order was incorrect. I had ordered a bean curry. I was sent a beef curry. Not only was it incorrect, but it offended my vegetarian sensibilities.
