Close to the beach but that's the best it got

Posted 08-Aug-2017
Looked ok but once in the room it was very different. Hated that it was tile flooring due to sand sticking to your feet. Bed was uncomfortable and very loud when you moved. The room allowed pets and I found dog hair on the covers from the previous guests. The room stunk..smelled very musty. The last night there was a roach in our room. The staff were nice and friendly but we won't be staying there again.

Private Beach Access

Posted 24-Jul-2017
Pros: Right next to the beach!
Cons: Need better breakfast. How about some scrambled eggs and sausages!
Location: IT very close to retaurants and other attractions.
The hotel is right next to the beach with its own private access. It also has deck with picnic tables facing the beach. There is a pinic area with grills. However, the grill are a bit rusty, you need to really scrub it before use. The rooms with tiles are better than those carpets. The carpetted one had odor due to constantly expoed to sea water and not completely dried. Try to get rooms not on the first floor, there would be more sands from the beach. The breakfast is not very good. There are one waffle maker and one pancake maker. Thet both use the same cheap batter. There are bagels, toast, cereals, and some fruits like bananas and apples. The rooms are spacious with a small refrigirator and microwave. There is a small eating area in each room. The ocean facing rooms have balcanies. There is a feet wasing area for hotel guests after there beach trip before going to the rooms. We had a pleasent stay other thsan the not so good breakfast.

Thanks for staying with us. We do have parking spaces of 1.25 per room. However, we do have issues when people bring 2 vehicles and/or trailers. I hope we were able to help you find a space across the street. I have been here for 7 years and in our off-season we do paint and maintain our buildings and rooms,This off-season was the pool's turn. I do apologize that the grounds were not clean we do have a crew of 6 guys who are responsible for daily cleanup of common areas. Thank you again for staying with us. Hope to see you back. No complaints! Will stay again

Posted 14-Jul-2017
It looks a little run down on the outside, but the room was modern enough and spacious (nice roomy kitchenette!), the beds were comfy, everything was clean. Check-in went without a hitch. The breakfast was simple (no bacon and eggs, but plenty to choose from otherwise). Nice pool, playground, and great little area of beach - complete with lifeguards. I was amazed that in the South in July, I didn't encounter a single cockroach! The only thing I wasn't wild about - you have to hold down the handle for a few seconds to get the toilet to flush, and the shower was stuck in the on position so if you're a bath-taker that would be an issue. That may have just been unique to my room, though. It's true there is no phone in the room but in this day of cell phones that was no problem. Will definitely stay here again when we go back.

Breakfast poor. Room cleanliness sub par. Room smelled moldy. Bed was hard and lumpy. Staff had a devil could care attitude.

Older Hotel on the Beach

Posted 10-Jul-2017
This was an older hotel, it was right on the beach and very convenient to everything. It was clean and the people in the office were very nice. I would come back and stay here again because the prices were very reasonable and with a microwave and refrigerator and coffee pot in your room, it made it easy to bring your own sandwiches and drinks to the beach.

Overall, a disappointing room for the money.

Pros: This hotel was on the beach, and even though I didn't have my dogs with me, the hotel is pet-friendly, so I was able to meet some new canine friends!
Cons: Aggravating, and potentially dangerous sliding glass doors, bathroom updating, an area for recharging electronics and update vending machines.
Location: The location is great, with direct access to the beach. There are good restaurants nearby within walking distance.
The people were friendly, the hotel is on the beach, the location is good, they have done some updates like painting and newer laminate flooring. Unfortunately, there were many things that were far below my expectations. The bathroom was in desperate need of updating. There was a sliding glass door that was extremely difficult to open, close and lock. It had some rusted metal sticking out at the base of the door on the outside.

Pros: On the beach
Cons: A little sprucing up (painting etc.)
Location: Lots of things to do nearby. If you like fast food there are four fast food restaurants a quarter mile away.
Nice hotel on the beach. A little tight on parking but overall easy access

Do not recommend

Posted 27-May-2017
This is my first negative review ever but, I have to be honest. The moment I checked in I looked at our towels and three of the four, had stains. The carpet had white dog hair on it and I had to walk through several smokers to get to my room. The shower head either had black beads or mold where the water came out. I told myself they were black beads instead of clear. I wanted an upgrade and they wanted another $56.00 PER night. My 12 year old son said, it's not worth it. I stayed here in 1997 and had fond memories. I will not stay here again. It looks like it has not been updated since 1964. I stayed at the Ramada a few doors down a couple of months ago and had a GREAT stay. Save yourself the heartache and keep searching unless you like smoke and have a dog, then it's perfect.
