Outstanding stay in an idyllic and peaceful environment. The building is stunning; a miniature Oxford college, with views of the grounds. The room was very cosy. Staff were lovely and we felt very well looked after - excellent breakfast, and some fresh baking, too! Loved it.
My husband likes history , books; we both like nature , outdoors, quirky & interesting surroundings .... this place was perfect for us but the great thing was we got excellent hospitality ie cooking , friendliness, helpfulness , relaxed atmosphere AS WELL
We stayed here overnight. It's a beautiful setting. So peaceful. The staff were great and the breakfast was fantastic. Two big refectory tables so everyone sits together at the same time. Great way to meet and talk to people. We were sitting in the lounge waiting to go into breakfast and the organist was practising at the piano. It was a lovely start to the day. We stayed in the suite called Charity. Huge lounge attached with a fridge and microwave. I believe that the owners are in the process of refurbishing the rooms which they need. Although they were very clean, they look a bit tired and will benefit from updating. Once they are updated, I would give it 5 stars. Not all the rooms are en-suite and I think it will be a big draw if they change that. Very reasonably priced.
Lovely breakfast and very helpful staff. A little cold - need to put the radiators on ! And the drive needs a bit of work - could do with a resurface. Must visit the cathedral . Quite amazing on this tiny island. Coastal road ideal for walkers and cyclists - very few cars.
