Oceanfront Home with Beautiful Sunset Views

Prior to Covid we had 10 plus years of 4 and 5 star reviews, however when Covid hit we decided shut down rentals for awhile and do some extensive repair and maintenance such as new front doors and structural repairs. We are now up and running again and taking reservations. The Ideal visitors to 'Casa Roca' are active people looking for adventure while also wanting some creature comforts. Casa Roca is a 5 to 10 minute walk along a stone and crushed shell walkway from the water taxi landing in Bastimentos town. We also have a boat dock out front that is good for arrivals and departures as long as there is not too much swell. We believe our home in Bastimentos is located on the best part of the island due to its sunset views and perpetual cool breezes. The home is built at the water's edge and backs up to the jungle. The house is also elevated for maximum breezes off the ocean. The master bedroom is complete with full stone-tile bath and the second bedroom has a half bath with loft access. The second bathroom has easy access to the outdoor shower and a washer and dryer are located in storage area below the house. Our property manager will pick you up at the airport in Bocas Del Toro and take you to 'Casa Roca' about a 10 minute boat ride away. For your convenience, we can also have the kitchen pre-stocked with all of your food and drink needs for your trip as well as provide assistance making day trip arrangements through one of our local providers. Day Trip activities include sightseeing, surfing, snorkeling, fishing, dolphin watching, etc. If you are looking for 'The Ritz', Bastimentos is not for you. That being said, if you would like to explore the real culture of the the Caribbean and Panama... you will see a true slice of it here. The ocean front includes a dipping pool and manmade sandy area.

Rustic and beautiful
The location is beautiful but definitely rustic. This is not a resort but the views cannot be beat. Everything about the previous reviews is accurate but there is absolutely no beach and not really anywhere to swim. So if you’re ok with that, it is lovely. A curtain on the outdoor shower probably would be helpful and the walk into the property from town is not recommended with luggage. One of the other reviews mentioned this and the property owner assured me there would be people there with wheelbarrows to help us get our luggage to the property. There were not. He had a woman and her son carry two pieces while my friend and I laughed the rest of it over rocks, roots, sand, and mud on very uneven ground. On the way out we ended up paying someone to do it because it was also 88 degrees and humid.

Beautiful view and Close to Firefly
A Beautiful view on Bastimentos island. It's about a 5 minute walk from the boat to the house. Be sure to pack light enough to carrie your luggage the entire way. A short walk to Firefly. Bring cash though, all of the restaurant take cash only and their are no ATMs on Bastimentos. Have to take a boat taxi to Isla Colon for ATM.

Seaside Escape
This property is lovely. The big veranda on the front of the house looks out over the ocean and is framed by palm trees that sway in the breeze. The waves, the sun, and the jungle are all right there. It’s perfect.

Amazing place and views.
The property is amazing. A little walk from Bastimentos to the house on a jungle trail. The water in front of the place is great for snorkeling and while it's not the Ritz it has a million dollar view from the porch. Sunsets on the porch are not to be missed. The Fire Fly next door has great food and easy to get a boat taxi anywhere you need to go. 5 stars from me on Casa Roca.

Wonderful stay at Bastimento in a beautiful waterfront property
The property is beautiful and the owner accurately describes his home and amenities. The pictures, while accurate, can't capture the beauty of this oceanfront property. Also, pay close attention to owner's suggestions for arriving on the island/Bastimento. I would definitely stay at this property again. The location is truly beautiful and the locals are friendly.

Not bad, but room for improvement
The house is situated quite apart and could at that time only be accessed by a small footpath from the dock of Bastimentos town as the dock pertaining to the house was broken. The footpath was partly muddy and full of plastic waste that has probably washed up from the sea. It is particularly difficult to reach the house when it is raining and storming. We liked the surrounding terrace of the house and the large doors that open to the terrace. Unfortunately it is not possible to watch the sunset from the terrace as this part of the horizon is always covered by the surrounding trees. The house was in relatively bad shape. Some of the windows could not be opened because they were fixed with screws in the window frames and we were unable to remove them as they were completely rusted. This was particularly annoying regarding the bathroom as dust and unpleasant smells could not escape through a window, but always penetrated into the adjacent bedroom. Storage space for clothes and laundry is minimal. One of the bedrooms has neither a closet nor a commode. Kitchen equipment was also quite poor, tea towels were not available. However, there was also a highlight in the kitchen: a blender that we used to prepare cocktails. Shower / toilet were fine and clean. The water supply failed twice - once the cause was an empty water tank, the other time the pump had failed. Anyhow, Ricardo and Antonio fixed both problems within 2 hours. We also used the outside shower, especially to clean our dirty sandals. The beds were clean and there were enough towels of remarkably good quality. Air conditioning worked perfectly, WiFi as well. One of the happy moments was when we could watch a sloth with its baby in the surrounding trees.

Awesome retreat for some Rest and Relaxation
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Roca. The property was comfortable and the view is beautiful! It was quiet and relaxing. The caretaker was wonderful and very helpful. He would check up on us and was a joy to chat with. We had to make changes to our reservation due to the airline out of San Jose cancelling our flights. Jerry was prompt with responding and accommodating the changes. Highly recommended.

Awesome retreat in Bastimentos/Bocas del Toro
Casa Roca is a lovely home on Bastimentos. Jerry, the owner, was prompt with his replies, so it was easy to book. Santiago, the caretaker, was there whenever we needed him--whether it was transporting luggage in a wheelbarrow or fixing a water pump. The house is just as depicted and very comfortable. Believe the comments that you need sturdy shoes to trek to the house. It's less than a 10 minute walk to Old Bank, but when it rains, your feet will be wet and muddy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Casa Roca to everyone!!

Great place, very peaceful
Casa Roca is a beautiful home, plenty of space, and a knockout deck overlooking the water. The path into town isn't as challenging as some reviews have said, but it never rained hard when we were there so we don't know how it would be when wet. The caretaker is very helpful with just about anything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.
