Good basic guesthouse

Posted 08-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Stayed 2 nights. Typical Thai guest house. Basic, functional and basic. For the price paid, the guest house offers great A/C and WiFi, soap, towels, hot water, complimentary water. Enough for the 2 nights. The room had wardrobe and shelfs to put stuff, but no desk or chair. The only way to work on the laptop is the bed, which is uncomfortable. Didn't interact much with the owner during the stay, but she's a nice lady and made sure I knew about free coffee in the morning and that everything was okay. Location wise, great for Soi 80 and then maybe 15 minute walk to the beach. Despite the proximity to Soi 80, the area is quiet and easy to get a good nights sleep.

Looks like they don't welcome customers and don't connect with customers

Very nice Guesthouse, but be ware of location.

Very nice and clean, excellent hosts with the cutest puppy. No noise, no complaints at all! However, be aware that soi 80 is a bar street with bargirls taunting tourist - especially if you're an unaccompanied male. People here are mainly locals and expats. Not the best location for younger travelers. Excellent if this is what you're looking for though.

Nothing special, but why would you expect anything special for this price. The room is very big. Pretty comfortable. But lots of ants in the room, especially the bathroom. Woke up and found ants on my toothbrush. No trash bin in the room. Shower is ok. Bed is nice. TV is fine. Good location, that is for sure.

OK, but no cigar

Fairly standard Thai guest house. On the plus side, the owners are a mine of useful information on the city. On the minus side, I had a problem with my bathroom sink, which was not fixed when assured it would be; there was zero housekeeping: and no waste bins were provided, so rubbish had to go on the floor; aircon was too cold and too fierce and no amount of adjusting the settings made any appreciable difference: bedding very minimal.Despite the name of the establishment, food and drink are not always available.

Laila amazing hospitality

Posted 22-Jan-2014
Location: There is a bar street on Sol 80 and there are girls in the bars, but they were not offensive in any way. Beach max 10 mins walk
We only stayed one night at the Laila Food and Drink Guesthouse and I can say in all honesty that I have never had better hosts - sure the rooms are pretty basic but if you want Hilton, expect to pay hilton prices. For myself and my wife the room is only a base and a place to sleep. What we value with our travels is the experience. The night we stayed there was a birthday party and we were made most welcome, with food and drinks being provided, together with that fantastic, relaxed friendly atmosphere. If you want swish rooms then go to Hilton or similar but if you want hospitality at budget prices then look no further.

I had a great time at this guest house, mainly because the owners, Laila and Dave, are fantastic hosts that make you feel really welcome and go out of their way to show you a good time. My room was nice and clean and the location central for shopping, beach and eating. Thanks for a fab stay!

Excellent

I was very happy and satisfied with my stay here. The owners are terrific and helpful people. The location is perfect and they are not trying to be a 5 star resort, it's a relaxed hotel which is perfect for backpackers and couples/families. The hotel is located in a very calm area but the bars are less than 100 meters from the hotel bur you will never here anything from the bararea. I enjoed my time so much that I decided to stay for a longer time.
