Not sure this is a 4*

Posted 23-Jan-2017
Firstly the picture on the site is not what the room actually look like. Not very clean, I.e. Stains on sofa. Very outdated. Breakfast starts at 8am and you have to order and wait for the staff to cook for you. Time is tight if you start work at 9am. Staff are friendly.

Average

Location: Excellent location for my visiting purposes - it was round the corner from where I was due to have my meetings on the day.
The deluxe double room size was quite large, which also meant that it was absolutely freezing. When I arrived in the evening I found the curtains drawn but the windows were wide open - the only heating on was the towel rail in the bathroom. Generally room and bathroom were clean - however the shower and taps had quite a bit of limescale that didn't make it look particularly pleasant to use. Tea and coffee were provided, but I am disappointed that there was no mini bar service or mini fridge with bottles of water - there is certainly plenty of space for it.

Comfortable hotel with very big and spacious rooms

Posted 14-Jan-2017
Pros: Clean ,spacious and comfortable rooms
Location: Very well positioned for loads of touristy stuff such as Titanic bits, Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth etc etc
I stayed for 4 days on a business trip. The room was serviced daily and was very clean, spacious and comfortable as was the bed. There is a Spa which was small but perfectly adequate for a small group, a couple or a single person to enjoy. Staff were all very friendly and polite. I did not eat in the Restaurant but did so in the bar where there is a limited menu, but the food did what it said on the tin, more than adequately. The decor and furnishings are generally in keeping with this 17th century house

Ideal location

Lovely room. Rubbish shower. Unable to get hot water through to shower over bath. When toilet flushed and shower turned on very loud noise ran through pipes until the water flow stopped.

Cons: Breakfast - staff could be friendlier. Needs more waitresses (1 is not enough). Felt rushed & impatient.
Average - breakfast was a letdown. Dark small room & impatient waitress. Used to be a lot better when breakfast was in the main hall.
