We stayed for two nights. The hotel is beautiful

Posted 12-Apr-2016
Pros: lovely atmosphere, beautiful, classy rooms
Location: plaza nearby and also a lovely pizza restaurant a short walk from the hotel.
We walked to the plaza, had pizza at a little restaurant nearby. The hotel is lovely, the breakfast is good. The hotel is in a residential type setting but close to bus routes if that is your thing. We stayed nearby.

An Old Favourite Still Shines

Posted 28-Mar-2016
Pros: Great staff, good ambiance, a genuine Mexican experience.
Cons: Bring back the wine and sliced apple in the garden after checkin.
Location: Walking distance to pleasant Plaza del Sol shopping centre. Very Mexican too but it does have several interesting stores and a Starbucks.
My first stay at La Mansion del Sol was 13 years ago when my husband and I were driving from Monterrey MX, we here we worked in an English speaking school for a three years after our retirement in Canada. It was Christmas and the place was empty except for one Japanese couple and us. We fell in love with it. It was a very typical boutique hotel offering everything Mexican in the best way possible. My review of that time probably still exists somewhere and we returned several times over the next nine years we lived in the country. Life changes but the good memories of La Mansion del Sol brought me back with a friend. I am pleased to say that the hotel has had some renovations that still keep the authentic Mexican theme and the small hotel feeling. There was not one English speaking tv channel that I could find, no elevators to the second or third floors, but large rooms and bathrooms with tubs, great extras in the room and good towels. It is pleasantly renovated in more toned down tiles than before, but still with the genuine and generous Mexican breakfast. There was no free glass of wine with slices of apples in the beautiful garden but the margaritas were simple but delicious, but no free.. Air conditioned and offering lovely radio music, the hotel offered a perfect night in GLD if you want to know the real Mexico. I highly recommend it.

We were most impressed by the quality of the Mansion del Sol. Located in an upscale area of the city, the hotel included a first-class hot breakfast and free wi-fi. The room was very well-appointed and comfortable, and it was good sitting in the outside garden. We enjoyed eating dinner in the restaurant, and overall felt that we had excellent value . We will certainly stay there on our next visit to Guadalajara

Pros: Todo sin excepción.
Cons: No
Gracias Cani.

Cozy hotel. Could improve its personnel

Posted 09-Mar-2016
Pros: I liked the premisses very much. The breakfast is good. The location is awesome.
Cons: They need to improve the desk personnel and should isolate room 4, which due to being the closest to the kitchen you can hear all kind of noises.
Location: I consider the location to be great. It is a few blocks away from a main street, and centered near restaurants and shopping.
This is a small cozy hotel adapted from an old mansion and due to its decoration and size it barely feels like your are in a Hotel. Unfortunately the personnel is not at par with the good feeling of the premises. I stayed for three nights during a visit to Guadalajara for a wedding. I made a reservation with plenty of anticipation in a double room; I was disappointed that instead of my reserved room, I received a single-bed room. I immediately took the issue to the clerk, but since I arrived near midnight the clerk explained me that the mistake was due to the fact that another guest with my same name arrived first, and explained me that they had no other rooms available and that it was too late to call the other guest to correct the mistake. Next morning there was a lady as a desk clerk that insisted that the other guest had my same name, and refused to double check that when I asked to review the issue since I found that hard to believe. She was not rude but had an irritant dismissive attitude. At the end, that other guest did not have my same name, actually it was one of my brothers thus we only shared the same last name. When they acknowledged it was their mistake I asked them to review if there was not a mistake with credit cards and charges, but had to rise my voice to get it done since the lady at the desk again tried to dismiss my concerns. Conclusion: Very good place not so good personnel.
