Nice hotel. Reasonable rates before Grand Canyon.

Posted 21-May-2017
Pros: Friendly staff. Breakfast.
Cons: Beds were a bit soft.
Location: Flagstaff was on our way to the Grand Canyon. Adventures at Mt Humphrey's.
Hotel staff were extremely friendly. Gave us advice on a good restaurant close by. Room was clean. Room was small and cozy. We were happy they had availability.

The breakfast was fabulous. Thanks. The only negative is the noise of the train passing regularly at night.

Thank you for highlighting our complimentary breakfast as one of the reasons you'd recommend Pony Soldier. While the trains don't bother most, you can always request a room in the back for a bit more quiet. We're here to help! Best, Scott, GM

Good hotel on Route 66

Posted 05-May-2017
Pros: Good room and staff, great breakfast, easy access.
Good hotel with friendly staff, a large breakfast room (with a very good breakfast ... lots of choices). Easy access, with good parking. You will hear trains going by across the street but they didn't bother me at all during the night.

Nice and comfortable hotel

Posted 05-May-2017
Pros: Very friendly staff that knew the area very well, and gave good advice on where to go and how to get there. Very good hot breakfast included.
Cons: No laundry facilities.
Location: Grand Canyon, Observatory, National Parks, shopping and dining.
+Used the hotel as a base for exploring the Grand Canyon located about 11/2 hours away, and visiting the many stores and historical sites located in Flagstaff.

Thank you for giving your two thumbs up to our Best Western! I'm glad you took advantage of our knowledge. The team doesn't just work here, we live and play here too! And great mention of our close proximity to the Grand Canyon. It makes a great day trip from Flagstaff. We hope you'll stay again.

Small room with a view

Posted 29-Apr-2017
Pros: Breakfast! We chose to not have our room "done" every day, which we thought was a good idea of the hotel to offer this option.
Cons: Staff at the front desk could have been a bit more helpful.
Location: Great location for going places and doing things. Close enough to Grand Canyon, Sedona and several other spots we visited on the spur of the moment.
We decided to stay here because of its proximity to the Grand Canyon and many other points of interest. We knew the room was small, but it really was smaller than we imagined. Still, once we got over the claustrophobia, we were fine. Think tiny house. Staff was great, and we especially liked the fact that they made it easier for the dog by placing us on the ground level, near the doggie area. But, I have to say, the BEST thing was the breakfast! In a separate building, there was literally everything one could want for breakfast, hot and refilled fast by the hard working staff. Good place to spend a few days.

Older hotel with very small bathrooms. It needs to be updated. The pool was also really small but it did have a hot tub. I probably wouldn't stay here again unless I didn't have a better option.

Sorry to hear your stay was not all you hoped it would be. We're always working to improve our property and service. Over the last year we've heavily invested in the hotel rooms and completely remodeled the breakfast building. Feel free to look into our suites, which offer more room to stretch out but still at a great value. Thanks again for being our guest. We hope you'll reconsider and return!

Got this because had a heated pool

Posted 03-Apr-2017
Overall, nice hotel! Breakfast was awesome! The rooms are tight but clean and veru organized. Was hard to breath at the pool! It seemed as those you were in a steam room instead of a comfortable pool setting!

Pros: Easy access, convenient to locations I wanted to visit.
Location: Lowell Observatory. Brewery District.
Perfect spot to stay while making day time and night time visits to the Lowell Observatory. Also close to the Brewery district with great brews. Would stay here again when visiting in Flagstaff, AZ.
