Kilkenny Fairy Hideaway in Converted Barn

Holiday home in Graiguenamanagh
A very private woodland retreat located in a two-hundred year old restored barn. A cosy retreat within a courtyard but totally private, with its own kitchen, bathroom and woodburning stove. Sleep late in the hand-made bed, read a book by the fire, stroll the ancient footpaths in the private fairy woods on the property. Daydream, chill out, laze about, unwind, calm down, breathe easy - it's all possible here.
Located in south County Kilkenny and offerng sweeping views of Ireland’s breathtaking Blackstairs Mountains, and a home base for those exploring Ireland's Ancient East as we’re centrally located for making day trips to all the spectacular views and attractions therein. Explore the eight existing Cistercian monasteries located within a 90-minutes drive from here. Walk, cycle, canoe along the bearutiful River Barrow. Have a pint of Guiness and listen to traditional music and join in interesting conversations in the local pubs.
Your host Victor can point you to places of interest locally and speak to you about the Ballyogan Project on the land which involves others developing a more sustainable lifestyle collaboratively in community. The small native woodland has two pathways you can explore and be intrigued by the hidden fairy doors - even make a fairy door of your own and place them in the woodland - by arrangement with Victor.

Graig-na-Managh is a small town founded by Cistercians in 1204 and the Duiske Abbey has been restored to former glory in the 1970's. Wander around the old laneways or stroll along the tow-path on the river admirring ing the house boats moored along the quay.

5/5 Excellent

A charming gem hidden in the woodlands of Kilkenny's countryside, a true getaway.
Very enjoyable break away from the city. The idea was to be away from the hustle and bustle where we could actually switch off and enjoy some countryside. Craig is a lovely wee town and there's lots to see and do, we were a 10 min drive from the town, in a lovely secluded gem of a spot really, Victor is building something special here, very much worth a visit. Victor is a hands on, witty and very pleasant host who charmed myself and my partner with his family recipe bread fresh from the oven. Blue the resident canine companion loves to 'escort' us with her chosen stick for some fetch and won't go far away when walking the woodlands and walkways. The countryside is rich with life, it feels ancient with trees and old stone walls covered thickly with moss (watch out for the fairy houses as you walk the woodlands!) Our trip was far to short to fully enjoy what is on offer in the area so we will be back next year for longer. Thanks for a lovely getaway victor 😀
