To far from major roads

Posted 08-Sep-2015
The hotel was 6 miles up a mountain. It was raining and at dusk. Difficult to find. Deserted with sign to go to sister hotel

Outside of town, deserted in summer, Small room

Posted 31-Aug-2015
Pros: Price Ice machine in parking area (good for re-icing cooler)
Cons: I doubt they could be improved but the rooms were really small.
Location: It's at the bottom of the slope but about 15 minutes outside of town. All there is to do during summer is the lounge, the cafe, and resort sports.
We stayed for one night while driving across the country. The staff was very pleasant, but only staffed the adjacent lodge a few hundred meters down the hill. The room was small and the fan in the room was loud. The place was fairly deserted and there were maybe 10 cars there total. The cafe at the bottom of the lifts (on the back of the main building) was quite good and reasonably priced (excellent waffle)

Nice hotel

We stayed for three nights. There was no daily housekeeping. Beautiful view, nice large windows in our room with a large balcony! Really liked the underground parking!

Nice hotel

Posted 29-Aug-2015
Pros: hotel design, décor, fast elevator, room design, balcony.
Cons: having to check in at different hotel
Location: Kicking horse has lots of biking, hiking and snow sports.
We checked in later in the day. Only issue was having to go to another hotel to check in. Would be nice to know this ahead of time to save a trip.

We liked it!

Nice clean apartment with good facilities. The only issue I had was that the room description said queen or king bed and I requested for a king bed. However, they provided me with a queen and not a king bed.

Ski resort might not be a good idea in summer

Posted 24-Aug-2015 on Hotels
We booked a room in a ski resort thinking that it would be a novel way to spend a summer night. We were given a room in a near empty resort facing a gravel embankment, despite the fact that we only saw one other person in this multi-room resort. After complaining/commenting to the host and inquiring about another option even (and with a request that we'd pay for an upgrade) we were given a lovely room with a stunning view, which is what one would expect of a summertime ski resort. The unfortunate aspect was that we did not expect to stay in a nearly deserted resort with the only cafe closing at 8:00PM, and no other activity. Also we were about 14 km away from the nearest town and up a mountain. In the end the upgraded room made the difference as it was pleasant to sit in a room with a view.

Quiet mountain location

Posted 20-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Three night stay at mountain resort. Check in and any service is at a building two minutes away, so this is not really a hotel but a "serviced appartment". Saying that the location was very well furnished with everything you need for a short or long stay. Bedrooms great and comfortable, lounge area fine. Kitchen fully equipped - washer and dryer a great surprise but perfect for the stage of our vacation. Hot tub - awesome! :) Kicking Horse resort is a little quiet in the summer, especially in the evenings and early in the week, so don't go to the area expecting much going on. The town of Golden 10 miles down the hill has enough to keep you happy though.

Just FINE...

Posted 18-Aug-2015 on Hotels
The front desk (located in the Glacier lodge) has an amazing staff. Its too bad they are promoting a mediocre hotel. The wifi is spotty, the rooms are bland, and generally small. So unless you plan on only sleeping in the room, which was clean and in good condition I would recommend one of the other spots on hill at KHMR.

Close to golden golf and country club

Posted 16-Aug-2015
Pros: The one bedroom suit was nice
Cons: The advertising could be more clear about what type of room to expect
Location: It's right on the ski hill and close to golf as well
Judging by the add I was under the impression I was getting a room with private hot tub On the balcony this was not the case.the wifi and the phone did not work also.By the time A worker came to check on the problems and we got moved to another(upgraded) room Our night was pretty much shot. Was not a good experience and will not return
