Attentive staff, excellent accommodation. Some room designations are unclear. We were pleased to be assigned accommodation with terrace and sitting area, but, limited lake view which initially caused some consternation. Upon investigation appeared we had been upgraded, prioritising space over view. Once identified, this was appreciated, especially when we realised we were at the eastern end of the hotel and enjoyed the late evening sun. Restaurant and other facilities were excellent. The hotel's central location on the lake is ideal for local travel and ferry use on 'trips of discovery'. One week at this establishment does not allow one to enjoy the full list of facilities and benefits of such a beautiful hotel in an ideal location. We shall definitely return as soon as practical.
The hotel is beautifully located on Lake Garda. The facilities (indoor & outdoor pool, spa , sauna, gym, hot tubs, etc.) are very well maintained and the dining is very good. Best breakfast of any hotel we have stayed at in recent memory. The staff is very well trained and consistently helpful. The prices are quite reasonable. getting around via car was easy in September, but in the July-August high season, it would be much slower. Going through d'Annuniza's home (within walking distance) is easily a half day visit, while driving to Mantua and visiting the Palazzo del Te and seeing Giuilio Romano's masterpieces is a priceless trip. There are many wonderful nearby restaurants to visit, while the nearby town of Salo will not disappoint the shoppers in your party.

We have stayed at this hotel twice, and have very much enjoyed our stay both times. The roadside façade is completely at odds with the rest of the hotel, the public areas are well furnished, most of the rooms at the rear of the hotel have splendid lake views and the overall ambience is one of relaxed comfort. The staff are without exception friendly and helpful, most of whom seek fluent English. Buffet style breakfast with an excellent choice.
One restaurant not to be missed during any stay in Gardone is Sans Souci, the default choice for the locals pretty much says everything.

"Gardone is quiet but easy ferry access and buses "
enjoyed every minute but not a lot to do in this resort but can easily reach other resorts although ferries tend to finish early. If you catch a bus to Salo there are a lot more restaurants to choose from.
"EXCELLENT-highly recommended, a bit out of the way"
Travelled with our almost two year old son. We had booked into the Apartment/Annex/Villa Mughetto and could't quite tell what we were in for. I can't comment on the the regular rooms, but at the time we booked they were double the price of the apartment. Had a large bathroom (no tub for but large walkin shower), small kitchenette with fridge and small stove and sink. Lots of space for our son to run around and on the grounds there were some grassy areas, and a nice walkway with ducks and small pebbled beach to throw rocks in the lake. Breakfast included was great, high quality, eggs per order, breads, yogurt, pastries, fruits.
The only negative would be that if you wanted to be in town, then this is not for you. It was a couple kilometer (very beautiful) walk into the nearest town Maderno, and a short taxi to Salo. There was a small store nearby (5min walk) for milk and some small supplies. We were looking for some quiet/relaxation and so it suited us perfectly.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly to our son.
FYI cab from Desenzano train station was ~50euro. Cab to/from Salo was 13-15 euro. Private driver back to Venice airport was pricey at 300euro but we needed to do it for our schedule.

"New hotel. Convenient for Gardone and Lake Garda"
Slightly odd that the hotel is actually on Via Roma, round the corner and up the hill from its listed address on the Lungolago. But a nice new hotel with a small pool, two minutes from the lake. No artwork in the hotel, suggesting a work in progress.

An ideal family run Italian hotel. Classy and simple. Exactly the hotel l would like to be in for this sort of vacation. The walk to the Lungolago is 15 to 20 minutes, and the Vittoriale is very close. The owners and the staff are extremely nice and helpful.

Whilst there the lift broke down twice in as many days, once whilst we were in it. As we were on the 5 floor and not able to manage all the stairs we asked for a transfer of room to a lower floor. This was done but one member of staff intimated that it was the way we pushed the button that had caused the problem.
On the whole the hostel was superb although it would benefit from a more extensive menu and a restaurant on site.
