We went to Edinburgh for our anniversary and this property caught my eye because of it's beautiful and fresh looking indoors and character which is quite in contrast with a regular boring hotel room. However, our experience with the room sadly turned to be something I wasn't expecting.
To start with, the property is a bit worn out on the inside and not as fresh looking as in the pictures. We stayed in the room next to the breakfast room and my guess it was relatively dark as the only window is underground and the light gets blocked by the shrub fence. These are things I can live with. However, my main disappointment was how the room was handed to us - unclean side tables, unclean surfaces in the room, half-used bottles in the fridge, expired milk (which seems to have been a genuine mistake and disposed off when I pointed it out), un-flushed toilet paper we noticed when we first used the toilet, broken toilet flush which made a dripping and flushing noise all through the night. I spoke with the owner of the property the next morning and she seemed embarrassed at the state of the room and offered to clean it for us. The bed was a little uncomfortable but okay.
On a positive note, the location is brilliant and within walking distance of all the main attractions, restaurants and bars - we didn't need to use public transport. Room amenities like a coffee maker, kettle, coffee pods, tea, biscuits, hair dryer, iron box (didn't use) and toiletries.
