Old School House, Brushford

Holiday home with kitchen, near Exmoor National Park
The Old School House dates back to 1836 and was used as the Brushford village school until a new schoolroom was built in 1895 then the Old School House became the Headmaster's home. Adjacent to the property is the village church which dates back to the 13th century.

Old School House has been renovated and redecorated to a very high standard, retaining many original features including a small bread oven in the current dining room fireplace. A surprisingly spacious cottage, Old School House has a light and airy feel, and enjoys pretty views to the surrounding countryside. There is an enclosed cottage garden at the front of the cottage with barbecue area containing wooden garden table and chairs.

The accommodation comprises sitting room, dining room, kitchen-breakfast room, study, utility boot room, downstairs shower room. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a family bathroom which has a shower over the bath.

Old School House is a much loved holiday cottage and therefore only accepts bookings for guests coming on holiday (not for people using as a base for work). Thank you for your understanding.

The Old School House is well equipped with all new appliances. The kitchen has an Aga-style electric range cooker, combination microwave cooker, dishwasher and fridge; a washer-dryer, freezer, hoover, iron and ironing board are located in the Boot Room. For the cook there is a range of stainless steel pans, casserole dishes and bakeware.

A Weber barbecue is kept in the courtyard off the kitchen, together with extra garden chairs if needed. An HD TV, DVD player and iPod docking station/speakers are situated in the sitting room. Wifi is avialable throughout the property. Each bedroom has a hair dryer and Roberts radio. A boot rack, umbrellas and dog bowls are kept in the Boot Room, usually the main entrance and exit to the cottage in day to day use.

Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The cottage benefits from oil-fired central heating and both the sitting room and dining room feature wood-burning stoves. A basket of logs and kindling will be left in autumn & winter for the wood burning stoves to get your started, further supplies can be purchased locally. Egyptian cotton bed linen and thick white towels are provided for each guest plus hand towels and bath mats for each bathroom. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar will be provided for your arrival, as will all necessary bathroom and kitchen materials such as J-cloths, loo rolls, washing up liquid, etc.

Up to 2 dogs are allowed on request for an additional charge of £15 to cover cleaning costs. Strictly no smoking at Old School House. There is ample free parking on roadside in front of cottage.
Guest accommodation at this holiday home offers a hairdryer and an iron/ironing board. All forms of accommodation include kitchens. Bathrooms include a combined bath/shower unit.

5/5 Excellent

Great location, throughly charming and comfortable home.
We five adults found this home extremely charming and beautiful yet thoroughly comfortable. The beds were all perfect, the kitchen well equipped and the assorted instructions for stove etc. and tour information most welcome. We would gladly stay again though next visit we would prefer longer than just six days. And, Dulverton had all we needed and a fantastic menu at The Bridge Inn there and only minutes away. We highly recommend!
