Lovely feel of grandeur yet clean and modern.

Posted 27-Aug-2015
Pros: It was comfortable and welcoming, which is a hard thing to get right for a big hotel. I loved the glamorous chandeliers in the entrance.
I wanted to stay longer but couldn't! The hotel location is great - a hop away from the Dart station, the coastline and the town. It was the perfect place for a special occasion.

Sehr gutes Hotel direkt an der Uferpromenade

Posted 16-Aug-2015

Competitively priced hotel with good facilities

Posted 13-Aug-2015
Pros: The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful; the rooms are large and well appointed; beds are comfortable, with good quality linen; good location.
Cons: Some of the fittings and fixtures are a little tired and the rooms could do with a bit of cosmetic uplift.
Location: Just down from the hotel there is a strip with several good restaurants. Dublin city centre is a short ride away on the Dart commuter rail.
The Royal Marine is an older hotel that retains much of the scope and grandeur of the glory days when Dun Laoghaire -- or 'Kingstown' -- was still a tourist destination in itself, rather than an outpost of greater Dublin. The rooms are spacious and those at the front of the hotel have wonderful views of the entire span of Dublin bay. The Aircoach service to and from Dublin airport stops right outside the hotel, and, for those travelling by car, parking is free (a rarity at Irish hotels these days). The hotel is good value for money and very convenient for central Dublin, as there is a commuter rail (Dart) stop very close by.

Disappointed

Posted 10-Aug-2015
We stayed at The Royal Marine Hotel from the 7-9th August 2015. We picked this hotel as it was very close to the pier where my husband was taking part in the Ironman Dublin. When we arrived at the hotel we had to wait over an hour and a half on our room being 'cleaned.' I had to approach the reception desk three times asking if they had any idea when our room would be ready as we were exhausted after a long drive! The receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. We weren't even offered a complimentary cup of coffee or an apology for the inconvenience even though this was an hour and a half after their advertised check in time! To say that it wasn't a great start to the trip was an understatement. We stayed in the main hotel and the room 616 and I have to say it was incredibly disappointing! The room and the bathroom were very small. The view was awful just showing other rooms and outside the windows were very dirty. As the room was quite small and the windows didn't open very far the room was far too warm! The air conditioning didn't work properly and as a result it was very hard to get to sleep! The bathroom was very cramped with an exceptionally small bath and shower. Around the bottom of the door of the bathroom and the shower was peeling paint. We were in the hotel for 3 days and it wasn't cleaned once in that time! From a distance the hotel looks lovely. Unfortunately our overall experience was not good, consequently I couldn't recommend this hotel.

Great place to stay

Posted 09-Aug-2015
Pros: Good views and exceptional service.
Cons: The only fault we had was finding a good enough mirror to do makeup as room had a lot of subdued lighting.
Was here for a wedding and cannot fault the service, staff, accommodation.

Convenient location

Posted 05-Aug-2015
Pros: Old beachside charm. Good shower & bed. Had breakfast on day in the restaurant and it was fine
Cons: It is getting old but still charming
Location: Lots of walking on the seaside available
We received good service from the hotel staff and had great walks along the East Wall and towards Dalkley village. Bed was very comfortable

Immer wieder gerne

Posted 05-Aug-2015

Stylish Hotel with excellent view of Harbor

Posted 03-Aug-2015
Pros: Its Victorian Grand Hotel charm and style mixed with modern facilities.
Cons: nothing
Location: In the centre of town within walk of shops, harbor and sea.
This is a Victorian style grand hotel on a hill overlooking the sea. It has underground parking and is centrally located near the shops. Its grand charm enhances the modern spacious rooms, free internet and quality dining. There is a leisure centre on site as well as coffee shop so it has all the modern facilities you need.
