Fantastic location. Steps to the water !

Check in lines far to long. Very busy at reception- nice staff just a slow process. Room wall thin and hallway and next door room noise noticeable.

Very disappointing

Posted 02-Jun-2017
Pros: Matt Ryan pub staff were friendly & helpful.
Cons: Check in process! Customer service training for front line reception staff. Update older small rooms - add heat controls, enlarge toilet, etc.
Location: Howth was a nice place to visit.
The wait in the check-in line was more than a 1/2 hour. There were not enough staff to handle check-in volume. We had to wait 15 minutes to get a room key and we arrived after their designated check-in time. Front desk staff did not even attempt to provide an explanation or apology for the excessive check-in wait and became short and transactional when asked I a question about how much longer I would need to wait for a room key. They asked me to stand at the front desk while other customers got checked in. Then, this wait extended more than five minutes to get a room key for a room that had not been cleaned or inspected, I was told to take a seat in the lobby. After waiting an additional 10 minutes in the lobby and well over an hour past their advertised check-in time, I finally got two keys and one didn't work. The room was horrible - so small you could barely turnaround in the toilet, view of an outside wall & drain that contained a dead pigeon and no way to control the heat in the excessively hot room! We left the window open no screen) but could barely sleep. After waiting so long to get the room, the rude front desk staff behavior & a very long travel day to get there, we didn't even consider asking for a different room. We stayed here one week earlier & in previous visits to Ireland, but we are not likely to return because of the very disappointing experience we had this time. Other stays at this hotel were of a much higher quality, but this one was horrible!

Very convenient to beach and train station. Think prices have gone up too high for short stay. Otherwise all good.

Pros: Location and facilities.
Cons: Some of the decour needs tidying.
Location: Close to the town with nice views and walks. Rail access to Dublin close by.
Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel lobby is large, clean and welcoming. Check-in very quick, as was check out.
