Drayton Manor Theme Park is one of the United Kingdom's largest and best known theme parks, and is situated within the grounds of the now ruined Drayton Manor. It is located close to the Staffordshire town of Tamworth and is easily accessed by road and train (Tamworth Station is a mere three miles away, and there are usually plenty of taxis available). Buses to Drayton Manor run regularly from Tamworth, Erdington, Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham.
The park's main season runs from mid-March to early-November, during which time it opens at 9.30am and shuts at either 5pm or 6pm. Its opening hours vary throughout the remainder of the year, but they are easy to find on the park's website.
Thrilling Rides and Great Accommodation
Rides at Drayton Manor include rollercoasters, carousels and big wheels, and there's something for people of all ages and levels of bravery. There is also a zoo within the park's grounds which has impressive collections of owls, big cats, monkeys, snakes and much, much more. Other attractions include an indoor play area, dino trail, crazy golf and a selection of family games. More than 6,000 square metres of the park is dedicated to Thomas Land, a multi-million pound project based around the ever popular Thomas the Tank Engine stories.
There's so much to do at Drayton Manor Theme Park that you may need to spend more than one day exploring all it has to offer. The Drayton Manor Hotel, set in stunning English countryside, is a four star hotel surrounded by more than 280 acres of parklands and lakes. A night in the hotel also includes total access to the park and attractions and, as well as family rooms, romantic 'presidential' rooms and stylish executive rooms are also offered.
If you would prefer some accommodation away from the park itself, the surrounding county of Staffordshire is packed full of hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses to suit all tastes and wallets.
Drayton Manor Theme Park is not only one of the best attractions in Staffordshire, it is also one of the very best in the UK.
