The owner was contacted and didn't send the cleaners until 24 hours later. It was unhealthy to stay in an unclean unit and found accommodations elsewhere. The owner refuses to return my payment even though he did not provide the service that was contracted. From the time we pulled up to the house it was apparent that it was dirty and in disrepair. There was a dumpster in the front and the guttering was falling off the house. Inside there was a strong smell of mildew and multiple sites of water damage. There were holes in the carpet and holes in the drywall in the closet. The kitchen was dirty with smeary grease on appliances, the glasses in the cabinet were dirty and there was a rotten potato in the cabinet. The linens on the bed were dirty and stained despite the host saying it had been professionally cleaned that day. The house was advertised as spacious and did have 3 king beds but only one single love seat in the living room. The vanity in the bathroom was broken and only two towels were left despite knowing we had 5 guests. The yard was barren and had no outdoor furniture. I did not feel that this was a safe place for my children. When contacting the host he offered to send a cleaner and handyman. After much communication he did provide a partial refund but not even half the amount that was originally charged. I have an active complaint claim pending with the host and VRBO after our stay. The host has not responded as of this post. The place was completely misrepresented in the photos online, the home was in disrepair, there were bedding and pillows with blood stains on them, towels with stains and holes in them, furniture broken, unusable kitchen pots and pans. Pictures on VRBO were grossly inaccurate. Mouse droppings under the sink. The vacation home company and the host actually contacted me during our stay to ask permission for a realtor to visit the home while I was not there. The pictures are very deceiving. The home is located in an area that is not safe. The home was very dirty. The yard had weeds and trash. I would never recommend. My family and I were supposed to stay for three days. When we got there it was nothing to what I thought I was paying for. I was terrified and could not stay but only one night. It was nothing like we had expected, and the two days we did not stay there, were not refunded, regardless of the home and location not meeting what I thought I was purchasing.
