Our first break away since pre-Covid, so much excitement. We have two dogs and the hotel was really dog friendly!! The food was great, particularly breakfast. The hotel grounds were well kept. All the staff were lovely but given the current difficulty recruiting enough staff, they were very busy, which occasionally led to forgetting requests etc. Tables were wiped down with anti-bad after each set of guests and all the staff wore masks. Unfortunately, a few of the other residents did not when walking around and I know its hard but I think they probably should have been reminded. Can highly recommend the house white! The reason for not giving a higher score is that the room was really warm (especially with our doggie buddies with us) and the only options for window opening were a tilting french door and the bathroom window. Requested a fan but unfortunately, they do not keep any. Second comment is that the thee dog friendly rooms are ground floor and overlook the garden, with a pathway to reception. This led to quite a lot of traffic passing our room, with people frequently looking in. I think some sort of blind might be an idea to provide more privacy. Subject to these two comments, thank you for a great stay - we would return again (but bring our own fan :)). NB at the moment, a lot of places in the village or not open on Wednesday evenings
