Beautiful old Manor House in a fantastic location, with a lot of historic feat in and around the buildings. Amazing staff, easy parking, and just off the M4 but very quiet. An oasis.

Very disappointing room for what is 'the best room in the hotel' and £200 per night. I have written 2 emails noting all my points and headed complaint, but both emails were just ignored. Yet before my booking you responded to the same email address very promptly. Some points I noted -Firstly, the worst one...the radiator valve was broken. This means the radiator is stuck on flat out even when the TRV shows as off. Clearly it's broken inside. It must have been over 30 degrees C when we first walked in the room. Had to open the windows (the ones that work) and even after them being open for hours it was still unpleasantly hot to sleep. The radiator was dangerously hot to touch and really made the room an unpleasant place to be. -Both basin taps leak from the heads when used. -The main light in the bathroom didn't work, bulb maybe? -Although there are stickers to warn of hot water, it's so hot it's outrageous and unusable. -Surprisingly, no fan in the bathroom so it just fogs up like crazy after a shower -Bathroom door doesn't actually latch, you have to use the lock -Bathroom light switch doesn't function properly and is on its way to breaking/jamming potentially causing a fire hazard danger. -Sink tends to glug away and the toilet never seems to fully stop filling and running. -Neither bedside lamp works, probably bulbs again 1 of the 4 original windows is stuck part open and won't open or close more. -Wardobe door loose. I have more complaints but have run out of space

Avoid - not a great experience for the money
Turned up and no parking outside the hotel, so had to drop everyone off with luggage and then drive back over the bridge and up the hill to a conference centre car park. Check in was ok, but despite emailing in advance for a reservation to eat at 7pm no one had responded or noted it down. Easily fixed by receptionist. They had some sort of function on so perhaps a warning to go out and drive into Cardiff for food would have been better. Sat down at 7, bread came out at 7.50, mains came out at 8.15. We ordered steak and triple cooked chips. The medium- well was well done. One of the mediums was as ordered. My medium was well done. The sauce to go with it was tiny. The triple cooked chips were uncooked raw potato someone had put in a fryer for 30 seconds. Rock solid, raw potato. How any chef could let food like that leave their pass - not to mention the crime done against the filet of beef I’ll never know. They should be professionally embarrassed to let something claiming to be triple cooked chips leave it. We ate the steak and that was it. Dessert was abandoned as an idea as we didn’t think it would make it to us before 10. The room was ok but for 2 hours next door had a party from 12 onwards followed by a group vomiting session. No hot water in the morning. Breakfast was average. Comped meal to cover hot water loss in room.

I checked in late in the evening for a 1 night stay, the gentleman on reception was very helpful. After three different WiFi coupon attempts it was agreed I’d join the staff WiFi instead of guest. The next morning I was greeted by a cold shower and what was a filthy bathroom floor with dirt marks all over it. No iron in

We wanted to re visit where we got married. Unfortunately we left disappointed. The room - lovely size room (four poster bed room) it seemed walls between the room it was linked to was paper thin as we could hear everything. Shower - the shower was blocked so we could shower for more than a few minutes within the water rising too high. Then to be greeted by large hairs from what I’m assuming is previous guests Wi-Fi - free Wi-Fi, I was going to spend the first hour or so working before relaxing, unfortunately the interest was too poor and kept cutting out. Evening meal - only the bar menu was available as the restaurant was closed. Breakfast - The breakfast cut off point was earlier than normal and no one told us. We missed it by 10 minutes. They tried to save the day by allowing us to eat it in the bar room, you could tell the food had been sat there for a few hours and some of the items had all gone. Also, eating in the bar room meant you’re eating off your lap or a very low table. - checking out, 15 minutes before check out someone just walked into our room. Didn’t knock, just used the fob. Luckily we were both just drinking a coffee Over all - for a £220 a night room and to re visit where we got married we left very disappointed and I can’t see myself paying that kind of money to re visit.

Have traveled the world many times over and this is undoubtedly my worst review of a property. Stayed here, regrettably, for one night. E-mail correspondence prior to our stay went unanswered so we were unaware their restaurant was closed upon arrival after attempting to make reservations. We also tried letting them know we were bringing our dog, but they did not acknowledge this until check-in where our room was changed to a more expensive room. Staff were very abrupt and unfriendly. I would've preferred bored indifference to being made to feel we were a nuisance. Paid £300 for a dirty, run-down, amenity-less room. It was absolute shambles. Tried to contact staff as there were no towels (or anything else but cobwebs in the room) but no one answered the phone after several attempts. After reception was staffed again the following morning, we were told the room was not ready for guests and should not have been given to us. Breakfast was bleak and the eggs tasted of chemicals. The grounds had the potential for beauty, had they not been littered with empty beer bottles and rubbish. Multiple attempts for an explanation and compensation went unanswered. Terrible. Avoid.
