Canton was our "stop for the night" destination on our way to a youth triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa. We booked a non-smoking 2 queen bed room through Expedia for 2 adults and 1 child. When we arrived at 8:00 pm at night we were given one (1) King bed in a smoking room. When I complained that it was not what I reserved, I was told that it was Expedia's fault and that those kind of errors happened quite frequently. (I use Expedia all the time and have never had something like that happen.) I was told they could not change the reservation that Expedia made and I was stuck with the one bed. After I explained that I was not going to require my daughter to sleep on the floor, the desk clerk reluctantly called her manager and then said they could "upgrade" us to a queen room for an additional $20.00 + tax or give us a roll away for $10.00 + tax. She seemed completely unconcerned that there were three of us and only one (1) bed. We were told to take that up with Expedia. My husband finally found our confirmation from Expedia which clearly said "non-smoking" and 2 adults and 1 child. After further consultation with a manager on the phone, she reluctantly moved us to a non-smoking room with 2 double beds. The clerk was not rude but she was also not very helpful at all and wanted it to be known that it was not the responsibility of the hotel to correct Expedia's error. We were road weary and found the entire experience very frustrating.
