Hotel within walking distance to town

Posted 30-Aug-2015
Pros: Clean and friendly staff
Cons: Shower mat in cubicle to avoid slipping
Location: Close to the town for shopping and eating out
Very pleased with hotel and staff extremely friendly. We had a comfortable room and will definitely return. We had friends with us who was also pleased with their room. We did not have dinner at the hotel but the breakfast was excellent. Can thoroughly recommend a stay there.

Unexpected shortcomings - glad only 1 night

Posted 08-Aug-2015
Pros: Less expensive than a few other places (but price didn't equal value), OK for one night, breakfast was good.
Cons: Too much to fit into 150 characters. Don't give out vouchers for services that can't be honored during stay.
Location: We were only staying 1 night to connect with a volunteer bringing a dog we adopted from Spain, so didn't visit the area.
Negatives: 1. Bathtubs are NOT standard, only corner showers! Asked if I requested one, my surprised reply "I didn't know I had to!". This is not mentioned in other reviews or hotel description. If you want a bathtub, request a handicapped accessible room ahead of time. 2. Requested a room in the back, to avoid traffic noise from main street. The clerk-"well, it's sort of at the back" and escorted us; it looked directly out over the street. After realizing there was no tub, I called reception and was informed about #1. I asked again for a room towards the back. We were then showed a very small room on the ground floor, facing the driveway to the rear parking lot. (I was told "there's no traffic there as it is a fire exit"!) Although the first room was much larger, we needed to get a good night's rest so I went with the smaller room, including a bathroom so small, the door couldn't fully open. 3. Bathroom: Lovely tiles. The corner shower doorway was 6"-8" above the floor, no shelves or area to put toothbrush, comb or hair brush. The "deluxe toiletries": a plastic sachet of shampoo, one of body wash, and a bar of soap approximately 1"x2"x 1/8". There were no face cloths, just a bath sheet or an over-sized hand towel. Not even any tissues! 4. Bed: too hard-cheap divan, very thin pillows, low quality linens, duvet only-no top sheet. 5. No fan or ventilation. 6. Parking lot is much too small, only 1 way in/out, very hard to maneuver.

Excellent hotel if you need to feel cared for.

Posted 04-Aug-2015
Pros: everything but mainly the staff
Cons: nothing that mattered
Location: just on the edge of Peterborough City Centre, close to the football ground, shojps, Riverside Walk and Cathedral
We stayed at this hotel while getting an elderly relative who lives nearby assessed medically and admitted to hospital. It was not a fun experience so to have hotel with warm and friendly staff to come back to was very welcome and comforting. The staff on reception and in the dining room were attentive, showed interest and sympathy without being fussy. We actually rang from the hospital late in the evening to book a second night when we realised we were not going to drive back home (3 hours away) that night. We arrived back at the hotel at 1.30am and were warmly welcomed by the night porter. Our room was all we could have needed, the bed comfortable, everything clean. breakfast great and cooked freshly. set us up for the day.

good hotel in favourable position

Posted 01-Aug-2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: Tidy up the outside
Location: Handy for town centre
when arriving thought I had made a mistake as it is a bit scruffy from the outside. When I saw my room I decided to upgrade to an executive room which was more like I was used to. It only cost an extra £15 which I thought was very reasonable. The staff were extremely helpful and which is more important they were cheerful. Overall I consider the hotel to be good value for money

excellent staff

Posted 08-Jun-2015
Pros: Staff
Cons: The room had a big damp patch on the ceiling and it was a bit noisy at night.
Staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful. They stored a bike for us overnight and were friendly and welcoming.
