Perfect!

Posted 17-Jan-2016
Pros: Everything, in short. A very welcome change from larger hotels in the city, and even in Bayeux. Very homey, family feel.
Location: 7-8min walk from the train station, 5mins from the Cathedral, a Carrefour City, several restaurants, 2 blocks from the tour hub at Place de Quebec.
I have no idea why this place doesn't have better reviews. So this isn't a 5-star hotel - it's cheap, very well located, and INCREDIBLE value for the money. It's a little family-run B&B in Bayeux - the rooms are homey, and small per usual, but with wonderful bathrooms. The wifi is free and better than that of the hotel I stayed at in Paris. All that said - I adored my stay. I actually stayed two nights longer than planned. The family (I met the daughter - who speaks English, which I was very grateful for - and son) we're wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I showed up at midnight, walking from the train station, and not only did they accommodate the late check-in, they let me borrow a phone charger, and were generally just incredibly helpful for my entire stay. The son cooks breakfast - fresh eggs from the hens in the garden, crepes, yogurt, fruit. Absolutely wonderful people, service, and B&B - will definitely return and stay again!

Charming Bed and Breakfast Close to Cathedral

Posted 07-Jan-2016
Pros: Sweet gardens, courtyard separating guest rooms from main house, gracious host, great location, secure parking within their gated courtyard.
Location: Tours of the DDay battles sites, the beautiful cathedral, especially at night when it's lit up, great walking town, only 1 hour from Honfleur
Having the B&B rooms on the other side of the courtyard afforded us additional privacy. We had a small kitchen area and the room was comfortable. We felt very safe strolling in the evenings and found the cathedral and restaurants easily. Our tour guide for the DDay battle sites picked us up directly from the B&B which made it even more convenient. We had the pleasure of meeting the matriarch and her family our first evening as they provided dinner for us. It was such a lovely evening with good conversation. The family is a delight and the meal was incredible! I'm looking forward to returning to Bayeux and will definitely stay at Aggarthi again! They had a room with 2 twin beds which accommodated my teenage son and I nicely, but also had another room with a queen bed and 2 twins in a separate room. Lots of options. Would be good for families.

Uselt!!

Posted 30-Oct-2015 on Hotels

Thank you so much for your comment! I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Cleanliness: we clean bedrooms and bathrooms, make beds, change towels and bathmats everyday. If luggage and private belongings are scattered all over, we never take the liberty to move it around and we do our best to clean appropriately while respecting your privacy. Breakfast: I understand that you did not appreciate having your breakfast served at the same table than the other guests. However, this is part of the French tradition of chambres d'hôtes. I am your host and it is part of the concept to share and exchange stories, experience and advice with my guests over breakfast every morning. Bedroom and services: The room category you chose is designed with basic but comfortable amenities for smaller budgets. A bigger room would have entailed a parking spot, a larger room surface and a higher price. We are not a hotel with cookie-cutter bedrooms and services. Yes, we have the same principles for everyone; family-owned Aggarthi Bed and Breakfast makes a point of receiving everybody with warmth and care, while respecting their privacy and independence. And for all rooms, WiFi and breakfast are included. However, our five rooms are different surface-, bed-, and decoration-wise. We try to offer a variety of room standards. This is why we invite our guests to choose their bedroom according to their needs and therefore, not evaluate the Backpacker bedroom the way they would the luxury suite afterwards. Sincerely, Myriam

I hate B&B

How this B&B got listed in Hotels.com is beyond me. To have to double over to move around this attic based bedroom just to sit down is not my idea of a 1* rating.

Good hotel in the centre of Bayeux

Posted 17-Aug-2015
Pros: it was very central, quiet and had a good breakfast
Cons: it could do with a bit of upkeep
Location: right in the centre, 50 yards from the Tapestry, 100 yards from the Abbey and 20 mins from Arromanche.
we stayed here for a night on our way back to Le Havre. The B&B is in the centre of town, about 50 yards from the Tapestry. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, showing us on the map where everything was and recommending restaurants. The B&B is based round a courtyard with a lovely garden and cats and dogs running all around. The family room was at the top of two flights of narrow stairs, so be warned if you have heavy bags. the room was good, a double room and a bunk bed for the children. It could do with a lick of paint and upkeep but was perfectly ok. it was also very quiet. A very good breakfast was served with fresh pancakes and it was about 90 mins to Le Havre. A nice place to stay.

The stuff is wonderful, breakfast was tasty, but could be better organized. If you get a small room prepare to be flexible when you gao around the bed.

A slice of Paradise hidden behind the entry gate

Posted 27-Jul-2015 on Hotels
The Aggarthi staff were very pleasant and helpful without being overbearing. They provided suggestions for dining and sightseeing. They spoke excellent English and were also happy to help me as I attempted to use my rusty French. The gardens are lovely, and it was a treat to observe the chickens and bunny. There were also several friendly cats lounging in the garden in addition to the friendly little dogs--it was an animal-lover's heaven! Breakfast was delicious, with fresh coffee, bread and pastries, fruit, scrambled eggs from the onsite chickens plus a daily entree (pancakes, frittata etc.) The location was excellent, just two blocks from the cathedral and within easy walking distance of both the train station and the departure point for the D-Day tours. We would definitely stay here again!
