About this property
Secluded~14er Views~Therapeutic Hot Tub~Brook~Borders USFS 3 sides~Wildlife
The towering trees that stand sentinel over the grassy meadow can tell the story of the Chalk Creek stagecoach stopping to water the weary horses in the Wilsey ditch while the tenacious riders are talking of how nice it would be to have a comfortable cabin just on the edge of this meadow where you could watch the bighorn sheep traverse down the mountain to graze.
Fast forward to 2026. That same stagecoach road is now a driveway. The same ditch runs through the property. The same grassy meadow is still the salad bowl for bighorn sheep and other wildlife. But now there is the rider's dream cabin, BigHorn On The Wilsey: A 1300 SF custom-built immaculate, well-insulated, 3 BR, 2 BA home. Soothing paint colors bring the outside in. Go to any window and it becomes a frame for the beauty of nature ~ tall pine trees, quaking aspen, willows, outstanding 14er mountain views, and if you are lucky a bighorn sheep, moose, deer, mountain goats, or bobcat. The shady front porch is the place to relax on a hot summer day. A leisurely walk down the drive yields a view of the Wilsey ditch (water runs May through August) and grassy meadows. A variety of wildlife drink from the ditch. The bighorn sheep viewing meadow is adjacent to the east of property. While the rest of us park our vehicles and hope to see the bighorn sheep in the few moments we are there, you have a front row seat to the mountains they climb in order to reach the meadow. The cabin and its 2 acres are surround on 3 sides by USFS/State land. No neighbors in sight. No roads in sight. No noise. Clear starry skies. 100% nature. This is Colorado perfect.

2nd time staying at this amazing property. Cozy spot with incredible views, close to mountain activities while having fantastic privacy. Deer viewing right from the back porch. Gazing at the night sky from the hot tub is transcendental. Falling stars and the Milky Way were so cool to watch. The cabin had everything we needed for cooking. We both slept great on comfy bed. Can’t recommend this place enough.
The cabin is a great place to relax. The views from the hot tub are tremendous. The cabin is clean, well equipped, and very private. The host Jean is very responsive and works hard to make sure everything is enjoyable and as seamless as possible.
Loved the hot tub views! Saw deer every day in back area and herd of big horn sheep run through one morning! House is comfortable and its location is amazing!
This cabin is absolutely perfect. The views are unbelievable. The host is very kind. This is the best cabin we have ever stayed in. I can't wait to come back!
Took much needed family vacation and this place was perfect. Very clean, hot tub was nice and all the quiet and secludedness a person could want. Communication was fast and helpful every time as well.
This hideaway was beautifully located, comfortable and just what we needed. Loved the hot tub as well and ease with cooking! Definitely will stay here again!
Great cabin with phenomenal views! Very private and a great place to get away! Views from the hot tub are fantastic, the cabin is very clean, and Jean is always responsive.
This was a great hideaway during a busy Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was immaculately clean and Jean was always quick with responses. Our family enjoyed the view from the sofa as much as the hot tub. As for me personally, identifying and "communicating" with all the birds using the Merlin app was a blast. At one point we had over a dozen Pinon Jays partying with us in the backyard.
This was my second stay at this cabin. The location couldn't be better -- the adjacent wilderness and the privacy but in the middle of all the BV fun. And the cabin itself is so comfortable, with every detail considered. I can't wait to come back.
As we drove down the road we took notice of all the nearby cabins and none have the views this one does. Incredible views and we got the “frequent visitors” our last morning there. Place is clean and can get really toasty if you want it to with the fireplace and heating. Fire pit and hot tub were great for the winter weather while we were there. Definitely will stay again.
Love coming to this place. It is quiet and has all kinds of wildlife around it along with a wonderful Hot tub!. This time of year, not as many people there which is right up our alley! Have stayed before and will definitely stay again! Would recommend to anyone who would like to be off the main drag and watch deer, birds, chipmunks and rabbits daily!
This is a fantastic cabin with phenomenal views and great privacy. The views from the hot tub and deck are spectacular. It’s a tremendous place to relax and get away.
This was the perfect place to relax and enjoy our vacation. Sparkling clean and well stocked. The view is stunning! Perfect location, close to town and several hiking trails. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We spent a week enjoying the mountain view off the back porch, while grilling and in the hot tub. Seeing deer walk by was a treat, Well stocked kitchen makes it easy to fix meals at the cabin.
This property was absolutely amazing. The privacy and coziness made this trip even better. The beds are ridiculously comfortable and that couch was just as cozy. The directions were clear and the check in process was smooth and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Our stay was filled with lots of snowy weather. It cleared out a few times and we were able to take in the beautiful views the cabin provided. What a wonderful view! We loved the privacy and how close it was to the hot springs!
The cabin was the perfect place to spend our family vacation! The view and location was just incredible. Our kids (7, 5, 2) enjoyed exploring the woods nearby & making smores on the fire pit in the evenings. The hot tub was also perfect after a long day of exploring. House had everything we needed & beds were nice and comfy. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Possibly my favorite vrbo stay I can remember. The cabin is secluded, has great views and is close to several interesting sites: St. Elmo ghost town, Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, Cascasde falls and Agnes Veille falls to name a few. The property itself was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside on the picnic table, sitting on the breezy patio in the evening, grilling dinner and most of all sitting in the hot tub under the starry sky.
