Holiday inn Maidenhead
We had a two night stay at this hotel in a family room as a base from which to visit Legoland.
The first thing that we noticed is that building on the outside looks tired, having said that the interior of the hotel was very well kept, the reception area and bar dining area were great, the pool and the leisure facilities were fantastic and the family room with two double beds was clean and perfect for a family of four.
I think the hotel is let down by its staff though, our greeting by the young lady at the reception OK but couldn't have been less cheery.
Later, in the evening we decided to have a family dinner at the restaurant, the dining room doesn't open until 6.30 which is fine, but when you have two young kids to get to bed if the food order isn't taken for some time, and the food doesn't arrive for another hour, then the kids do become a bit restless. The dining staff were in attentive and didn't come to check on us.
The quality of the kids and the adult food was appalling, I had a simple burger which was tasteless and had the consistency of rubber! and the wife's Chicken was of the same standard. Even though the kids eat free,I still felt that we we paying over the odds for food of this quality. Needless to say we didn't return for dinner.
Contrary to the above the breakfast was very good, and I must say that the Maitre 'd of the dining area was very friendly and made us feel very welcome, she is a great asset to the hotel staff!
