Want to stay again

One night stay at the Unicorn in the Unicorn room. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed. Can I criticise - yes. Do I want to criticise - no. If you want straight walls and flat floors go to premier inn. This is an old country pub with character and it is a shame I didn't have the time to enjoy it more. After a nightmare 8 hour drive I wasn't feeling very sociable so didn't make the effort - I just wanted food and bed.The food is great, lovingly prepared and locally produced/sourced as much as possible and you can taste the difference.I had a great nights sleep although my wife said the noise from the bar kept her awake for a while (to be expected in a pub). Not a five star hotel, but a lovely comfy place for the weary traveller, I just wish I had more time to enjoy it.

Very average pub accommodation

I'm not sure who did the photos on their website, but they did a great job - they didn't reflect the reality of this pub. I suppose I can't complain too much for the price, but there are much better options nearby. The staff appeared to be inexperienced and in a shambles. I tried calling to get early check-in and order breakfast. Neither were recorded. It took me four attempts to get an iron delivered to my room. The rooms themselves were small but fairly comfortable, and the bathrooms had been recently renovated. Unfortunately, they weren't cleaned on the second day. The food served decent pub fare, but again, there are a lot better options nearby. The breakfast was OK, but the tinned stewed tomatoes wrecked it for me. There's no parking at the pub, so you'll need to find a spare spot in the square, or nearby streets if you're driving. Not a problem in the evening, but we were lucky to find a spot in the afternoon when we arrived. The rooms are right above the bar, and aren't double-glazed, so there was quite a bit of noise coming up from below. The saving grace is the location - in the center of the beautiful village of Deddington.

Comfortable and convenient

We stayed at the unicorn as it is located very close to family members. The room was comfortable, though toilet flush wasn't great. Some noise from the pub, but not a problem.
