Just steps from the beach, it’s an ideal base for couples, friends, or families with older children wanting simple, comfortable beachfront living. Not suitable for children under 10. The Space: Apartment 8 is arranged to make the most of the elevated position and wide outlook. The open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area sits at the front of the home, with large windows and shutters framing long views across Onetangi Bay. Natural light fills the space throughout the day, keeping the apartment warm and bright without feeling exposed. The lounge is furnished for relaxed seaside living, with plenty of comfortable seating and a direct view of the water. The dining area sits alongside the lounge, making shared meals easy and keeping the living level connected. The kitchen is full-size with ample bench space, open shelving, and everything needed for simple meals at home. All three bedrooms are located privately off the main living space. The master bedroom has a king bed and receives natural light from the angled windows. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third bedroom includes two king single beds, making the layout practical for mixed groups. Two bathrooms with tiled showers and modern fittings make morning routines straightforward. Not suitable for children under age 10. Guests also have use of the shared gas BBQs in the landscaped common area at The Sands. Close-by wineries include Tantalus Estate and Obsidian Vineyard, both offering tastings and relaxed vineyard meals. Getting Around: The nearest bus stop is on Fourth Avenue / The Strand. Buses run from Onetangi, stopping close to all major wineries, including The Heke, then continuing into Oneroa and on to the Matiatia passenger ferry. However, the overall cleanliness of the property was below expectations. The couch covers and cushions were visibly stained, and there were dirty dishes left in the cupboards, which appeared to have been from a previous guest. These items should ideally be checked and addressed before new guests arrive.It also appeared that the property had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival, and there was noticeable dust throughout, including above the kitchen downlights.Additionally, mosquitoes were a significant issue, and the automatic pest spray system did not appear to be working.
