Great little getaway for adventurous couples.
It's always so hard to write these types of review because what may be pleasing to one person is not necessarily what another is looking for. So I'll start with who we are so that you can match the property to the personalities of you as a traveler: We are an active not-yet-retired couple with plenty of hiking, backpacking and camping adventures under our belt. We are not Club Med kinda folk. Our vacations consist of seeking out new locations, cultures, arts, and experiences we have not yet encountered. With that said, the stone cottage was perfect. Small enough to be cozy and comfortable, and big enough to enjoy all the amenities - a working kitchen, a laundry, a small but quite serviceable bathroom, parking for a small car, a patio and grill. We had good internet connections to stay in touch back home, and there is a working landline with (basically) free minutes to the US. (Although we didn't use it). The home is situated outside the biggest city, Angra dos Heroismo, so you are well in reach of the city bustle if that's what you like. Above and beyond the cottage is the wealth of information supplied by Peg and Randy that they send you before you go. We rented a car at the airport and drove inland using easily followed direction that they put together, in the midst of not knowing any Portuguese. There are suggestions, maps - including one that they put together themselves - all kinds of tips, like where the local grocery store is, and the property is within a 5 min walk to the local bus route. Routes and schedules are posted on the fridge. They even go to the detail of introducing you to the neighbors (on paper). Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return. Thank you Peg and Randy! Tom B and Terry C
