We stayed 4 nights at the cabin. Had a little learning curve on the gas heater but there is a manual online and in the laundry room. Kitchen was great, pots, pans, griddle, appliances, and all clean. The exterior is a little weathered, but look at the weather they get. Wood paneling pretty much throughout. If you are expecting turn down service, pay 3 or 4 times more at the resort. Grocery and bar and grill real close and the hiking trails are all right there. Town is quant and the residents are great. ##### Robert R. The cozy cabin was clean and it felt like home as soon as we walked in. Everything was well maintained and for a first timer in Alaska and renting a cabin, we were really impressed. Would recommend highly. Probably the only dificulty was getting the key from the lock box, we had to play with it a little bit. But I guess thats a good thing. Nice lounge/family room but no firewood for the fire. Outside the house is run down and deck is very slippery when wet. Be aware that there is another house that shares a deck/entry/parking with this rental. It was not an issue for us but potentially could be based on other reviews. Hazards:The front porch railing is rotting off and a fall hazard. There are cords running over the floor of the living room and bedroom which are a trip risk. Be careful entering the bathroom as the floor threshold is uneven and a trip risk.Condition of rental: When entering the cabin it had an old and tired feel. The kitchen was dirty and I had to wash dishes ( just what we were going to use for our extended stay) and did not use the dirty utensils or broken can opener. I had to buy a few items to use and take with me. The filthy upstairs mattress was gross and we did not use at all due to the condition and lack of bedding.No follow up or resolution regarding any issues:I called and got the run around from the customer service team (multiple calls for the first three days with zero resolutions to any of the issues). This was a our 45th wedding anniversary trip and I have to say the accommodations were rough, old and a total disappointment. My complaint is silly, it was too fragrant. I could have done without the smell of cleaning products that I could taste in the air. We are from Homer, so blame it on the hippie vibes. We wish that there was better ventilation as well ; we couldn’t get the ceiling fan to work. We will be back! ##### Tessa D. Loved the fireplace and the open loft style feel, private and really enjoyed it. One of the first issues was when we arrived, the drive wasn't plowed, only the stairs and a few feet shoveled. When booked it said firewood provided, none was there when we arrived. When I called they said they don't provide wood but different booking sites say different things and Expidia is one that advertises falsely. They apologized and said they would reimburse but but still waiting to see that go though. Our comforter was durty and smelled like sour milk, unfortunately we didn't notice until the morning. When we went to sleep it was hot in the cabin after having a fire so we only used the top sheet. In the middle of the night when it cooled down we pulled on the comforter and woke up smelling like sour milk. I called right away to let them know and thankfully the cabin had a washer and dryer and they did provide detergent so I was able to wash all the bedding. Doesn't make for a fun first morning, let alone having to wash the bedding when we had a full day planned. The ice maker was broken, some of the cups had coffee drippings down the side and dirty so had to wash some dishes prior to using. I hate writing negative things I'm only writing in hopes that someone would see this and make sure proper cleaning and washing is done. We would love to stay here again and probably will seek it out as long as some positive changes are made. ##### Pattricia ### 2/10 Terrible #### Marie A. 5 Jul 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in Disliked: Communication, location, listing accuracy #### Horrible Experience This is not a secluded cabin in the woods. I needed three weeks of seclusion and rest. What I got was more anxiety and less sleep. The pictures are deceiving... There is a second smaller cabin that shares a deck, and I was treated to the ongoing late-night partying of the occupant. OFTEN! Quiet hours are supposed to be between 9pm and 6 am and there were frequent visitors coming and going at midnight. The deck rattles so I heard their clomping. I was highly annoyed. If I had known that I would be so close to another, I never would have stayed here. On one occasion one of the weekend visitors opened my door and tried to walk in. I had to casually and almost comically send him to the other cabin. I reached out to the property manager, and they did not return my complaint for six days. Their response was that they cannot control the behavior of others. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. I felt deceived. The full-size kitchen, while one of the most attractive elements of the cabin was, sadly, not enough to make up for the anxiety I felt on a daily basis wondering when they would be coming back. On my last night in the cabin, they weren't there. By midnight, I thought, "Thank God! I can get some rest." Nope. 2:30 am, here they come, clomping up the stairs. Can't wait to get home to get some sleep. Will never return. ##### Marie A. Check in was easy. We couldn’t get the TV to work, the internet was on but wouldn’t connect to the TV and I wasn’t sure who to ask for help. The place mentions a dishwasher, which was non existent. We didn’t need it but it was strange that it mentioned it several times, in the listing and on the house rules printed in the place. There was no working light bulb in the loft, a lamp light burned out as soon as we turned it on. Beds were comfortable but the one upstairs needs better pillows. Not much going on in the town of Girdwood in the summer.
