The Queens Head is a lovely olde worlde pub in a stunning location. Great walks right on your doorstep, we found the walks leaflet supplied by the Queens Head very useful. Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top Farm only 2 miles away, definitely worth a visit, plus Beatrix Potter Gallery just across the road from the Queens Head.
We were particularly pleased with our beautiful large bedroom (room 3 which is a superior room on the first floor at the front).
Everything was top quality, apart from the Expedia experience
I used Expedia because you said breakfast was included, it wasn’t and we had to pay for breakfast
It hasn’t been included since June 2019

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
We were very disappointed in the quality of the accommodation, although the staff in the pub were very friendly and attentive. The bed had no mattress cover and a strange arrangement of fabric serving as a valance around bed which just fell off when you pulled out the duvet to get in bed. For the second day the rubbish bin had not been emptied, neither had our water glasses, although they been moved from the bedside tables to their original position on the chest of drawers. We were not left fresh water for the second night and finally, the toilet seat was loose - dangerously so. We didn't think that a place with such a good reputation should have had these problems but we did not report them at the time as the young staff running the pub/restaurant were busy enough and it was not their fault. The staff monitoring/cleaning the rooms should have been aware of the faults. The breakfasts were delicious however!
