Great location to stay with a dog; dog allowed in front area of restaurant; plenty of dog bowls available and brown towel for dog in the room; nice walk along the river.
Great food and service
Maria, who is front of house, was so welcoming and later, in the dining room she tirelessly looked after us and all the other guests. The food was fantastic and I understand her husband is head chef, Joseph Colman. The rooms were attractive and very comfortable with lovely bathrooms. I would certainly recommend this as a wonderful getaway.
Amazing stay, beautiful place and so quiet. Dolly (our dog) was also with us and didnt want to leave. Had the ensuite attic room - huge with views of the brige.
Gorgeously restored and decorated country retreat. Very friendly and efficient staff. Top class meal using local ingredients. Lovely break away. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Thank you Maria and Team
So thrilled to have found this little gem. Needed an overnight stay near Monmouth, we stayed on Boxing Day evening, with our dog. Beautiful room , We ate in the bar, food first class. I imagine we will pay another visit if in the area.
Classy comfort in an informal atmosphere. Brillian
We stayed for three night over a weekend . A lovely comfortable and informal atmosphere . Amazingly comfortable beds.
Food absolutely excellent and staff really helpful and friendly . In a great setting .
High-end country pub with excellent restaurant, the perfect weekend get away slot. Lovely staff, good service and near to a real-life castle.
Although I recommend avoiding the room with a bathroom upstairs - cool initially but ultimately annoying in the middle of the night.

Stunning food and setting
Brilliant place for work or pleasure. Food was truly delicious and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Stunning setting with a family feel. Would whole heartedly recommend.
This was a surprise overnight birthday visit for my best friend and the hotel surpassed itself in fulfilling all the requirements I had requested.
The food was first class and interestingly presented, whilst the service was warm and discreet. Really comfortable beds in understated elegance with magnificent views and wonderful ambience.
Warm welcome, comfy bed and fab food. Stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful time.

disapointing
Have barely left the hotel & felt immediately compelled to leave a review as expectations were not met given previous great reviews.
Room: bathroom is upstairs to bedroom with no door. Luckily I am traveling alone so not an issue. But one to bare in mind should there be two of you...
Dinner: ordered the lamb, asked for mint sauce but there wasn't any. Surely this is a standard accompaniment?
Breakfast: breakfast is not served until 9am!!! This includes a weekday. This is very late whether travelling on business or not! An 8am start at the very least would be better.
They sent a continental breakfast to my room the night before instead, however as the rooms do not have a refrigerator and the breakfast included cold meats & salmon, most of it remained untouched.
