Disappointing

Posted 11-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com
King size bed ordered but double provided in family room. Bed creaked at every move so sleep was elusive. Shower useless as water came out at a 90 degree angle with no means of adjustment - had to hold in hand for a sluice down! Had to make a special request for a hairdryer, which was willingly provided. Owners very welcoming and friendly and breakfast superb, which lessened our grumbles.

Just what we needed

Posted 28-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
This was a lovely B&B is a lovely neighbourhood. Breakfast was amazing and the owner was very friendly. This is not within walking distance of Whitstable but not a problem to us. We had lovely weather and were able to walk to a local restaurant that was excellent. Would definitely go back.

Very Friendly

Bed creaked and groaned at the slightest movement. Shower stone cold! Fifteen minute drive from Whitstable, so a bit naughty claiming it is in Whitstable! Breakfast good but only lukewarm., but plenty of it.Landlady very friendly.

Attentive service with individual charm.

The Cherries is now our delightful little bolt hole whenever we need to stay nearby. The service was wonderful with the owners being attentive and aiming to please. This meant pots of tea and banana cake appearing to accompany late night card games- just what we needed! The room was light and clean. The shower wasn't incredible but the delicious fry up made up for that! If you want cold and sterile, this isn't for you. If, however, you want to stay somewhere unique with stories of fishing boats and quail hatching, this is a must!

Lovely B&B with the perfect hosts

Posted 21-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything but the highlight was the hosts and their beautiful bulldog!
Location: As we did not have a car we used a taxi to get from Whitstable station to the B&B. Nearby is the Chestfield Barn Pub and a golf course.
Although the B&B is a little bit out of the way, I can say that my mum and I were made to feel really welcome. The room was lovely and the B&B has an amazing garden with ample space for everyone. Our room was lovely and Theresa was wonderful. This is the place to go is you really want to unwind. They provide a small selection of evening meals on request and are more than happy to provide you with menus should you wish to order a take away and eat it in their spacious lounge. Board games and books are provided. The breakfast was amazing and Theresa even made a point of coming to say goodbye to us in our room on the day we left as she had to go and run some errands. If staying here, I would recommends that you get off at the Chestfield train station as it is a wee bit closer than Whitstable. The only place to eat was the Chestfield Barn....an amazing pub which did excellent food and also had lovely gardens. If you wish to visit Whitstable but want to stay in the country, this is definitely the place to go.

Quick break to see Whitstable

Posted 08-Nov-2013
Pros: We could take the dog and it was near Whitstable
Cons: Just say you can only have certain rooms if you have a dog- this is perfectly reasonable as that room has a wooden floor so is better suited to pets.
Location: Bit of a drive from the town, lots of lovely individual small shops. The harbour is amazing and has some fantastic gabion sculptures.
It proved a bit tricky to get in to the Cherries, although Lisa rang to ask when we would arrive, so she could get someone to be there, circumstances meant we had to go away and come back. We had a dog with us which Lisa is fine with, but it needs to be stated that you can't have the King sized bedroom in those circumstances. I particularly booked the bigger bed. The living room is extremely beautiful and comfortable and Lisa gave us tea to have in there and made it clear that room was for us to use. We couldn't get on the wi- fi or the tv, neither of which mattered enough to ring Lisa as she had gone out, but it is one time we like to stare at a tv! We had taken a laptop so watched a film instead. I was unfortunately ill after a dodgy oyster so couldn't face her legendary breakfast, but she was so kind, asking if we wanted in the bedroom. We just had tea and toast but even that was very good. She is a great host who has made a very lovely B& B

Cute, family B&B in a residential neighborhood

Posted 12-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
The house, service, and hostess were all great. The rooms were clean and the garden was lovely. Fireplace in the main room, all very quaint. Yet, it was a little like staying with my Aunt though, who would cluck around for you and make an awesome blueberry pancake breakfast, but you would nonetheless feel like you were staying in her house in the suburbs. Recommended for couples in their 50+, but not for younger people trying to be close to restaurants, bars, etc.
