“Excellent location. Very clean”
This is an excellent choice when visiting St. John's, especially if you required several rooms allowing you to rent the whole house. Affordable. Clean. Excellent location in a quiet well-lit downtown area.
“A very nice Hotel”
We stayed for one night on the weekend of October 29/2011 the area was very quite service was good. The room is tastefully done with all the necessary amenities. It was very clean and the local area was very quiet. If you are looking for a city view this will not be possible due to the location which is a side street of Signal Hill and the building view is blocked by local residences however, you are only a short distance from the top of Signal Hill which will provide a panoramic view of the greater St. John’s area. The bathroom and shower were excellent though somewhat compact. There is internet access via Wi-Fi and LAN cable. I had a problem with connecting via Wi-Fi so had to use the LAN cable which has the hidden benefit of greater security. Desk service was good and the breakfast for a non breakfast eater was more than sufficient. I would definitely stay again. It is very close to Signal Hill Park and would make an excellent run to test your endurance or a beautiful walk for the more leisurely. I would definitely stay again and again.
“Perfect location and great staff”
This experience was just what we wanted. The hotel was in walking distance of downtown and the local sights and easily accessible to the highway for day trips. Every morning we had a delightfully fresh breakfast of fruit, muffins, coffee and assorted other items cheerfully presented by Norma who kept up with the hungry guests. Norma was also helpful providing information and directions on local areas of interest. All of the staff were friendly and the rooms were spotless. The bed was comfortable with soft linens -- we slept well! And an additional surprise was that long distance calls were complimentary to anywhere in North America. We were pleased with our stay and certainly plan a return trip!
“Good for my purposes, but perhaps not for everyone.”
I needed a hotel in the Signal Hill area, so this location was idealoly located. The units are relatively new and attractively furnished, but some of the amenities may not be durable enough to survive heavy use. The blinds on one of my windows would not go up att the way (making the room darker in daylight) becasuse guests had broken the pull line. One of the lable lamps worked sporadically, the switch was troublesome. The included continental breakfast was quite adequate if one is not seeking hot items. The staff were helpful and friendly. The biggest concern I would have for future use would be parking in the wintertime. Because the hotel units are really townhouses with small driveways, there is both limited parking on the properties and very limited street parking. Where do you park in the winter? It could be a challenge. I was cautioned not to park on the other side of the public street during my stay becasue the owners of those private townhouse units would complain.
“perfect little hotel”
very beautiful place, nice family feel to it
“Good value in St. John's”
A lovely property on the road to Signal Hill. Staff were efficient and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and good variety- coffee, juice, muffins, cold cereal, toast, yogurt and fresh fruit were all available. Parking was plentiful (and free). We moved there after staying at an expensive chain hotel for a conference- much better value.
“clean and comfortable”
A clean comfortable hotel, that comes with a basic breakfast
“Really Recommendable”
We had a great stay and decided at the end of our trip to return to Hometel for our last night. The only thing that bothered us a bit was that they installed air-conditioners during our first stay. I do not know whether one really needs these in St. John's, but it certainly increased the noise level from the street considerably (not well sealed, was like sleeping with an open window).
“Unique Hotel”
This was a great hotel-it was more like a townhouse. My only dislike was the parking-it was on the street in front of the hotel- you could park in the driveways if available. I stayed here during low season. This might be more of an issue during the busy summer seaason Overall, I was very happy with this property and would stay here again!
“Love this place”
This is exactly the type of place I needed. A reasonable walk to the downtown area of St John's and yet so quiet...The bed was great and breakfast was better - so convenient! Although my trip in March was not during peak time, this special rate was a great buy! Able to park at the door free of charge. The availability of free unlimited north-american calls was a really nice bonus. Totally satisfied.
