Ideal for a night or two

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: Reasonably priced, comfy bed, good TV, nice bath, friendly staff. The cleaners don’t pester you in the morning, unlike the Village hotels.
Cons: Kettle wasn't useable
Location: short walk to town centre and Rugby stadium
Nice enough hotel, only complaint was the kettle had some brown scum festering in the bottom so wasn’t able to make a tea in the morning.

Pros: it's position and the spa
Cons: they should be clear about what rooms offer what, we did not want that room
Location: macdonalds walking distance, also the Range with coffee shop. all town shops within walking distance.
we were given an 'accessible' room, we were told when we asked about why we were given a room with clear disabled access - very low tiny double bed, with giant king size quilt tucked in, tiny sink at wheelchair height, ( you have to aim your toothpaste if you are tall like me) we had arrived very tired from our journey and although noticed the tiny bed, we fell into it to recover. Then as we moved about realised what sort of room it was. Very clean, nothing wrong, but we have a kingsize at home and this was amusing for two nights. we had used the bed so could not ask to be moved. there was work going on and it is clear they are working towards the future. There was no info in the room about the restaurant or spa, but we were informed at reception to take £1 and a towel from the room when going down there. The spa is very good. this hotel is very well situated to explore the town, and access the roads to elsewhere, the price is right, and we will return, for us to visit our friends it is perfect.

Only stayed one night and it was a very enjoyable.

Pros: See above comments.
Cons: A few smoking rooms !
Location: As we only stayed one night to visit relatives didn't see much of the area but from what we saw seemed pretty central with plenty to do .
Very nice hotel clean comfortable , breakfast was very enjoyable, staff friendly and hotel obviously undergoing a refurbishment and didn't have any impact on our stay. Room was lovely, very clean and bed was extremely comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Pros: everything/
Cons: mould in bathroom ceiling but it wasn't too bad at the time of stay anyway.
Location: cinema, bars, restaurants, shopping malls and bus and train station. 1 hr on bus for city centre £8 return for two adults.
we arrived at the hotel early and was able to check in early. The hotel is close to the shops pubs and cinema so great for all ages and families. The hotel also has a gym sauna and swimming pool so again you don't always need to be out and about. Great staff members at the hotel so friendly and polite and you can approach them about anything although not that we needed to. The only down side to the hotel at the minute is that there is refurbishment going on the restaurant of the hotel but you cant hear any work going on at all. Food still being served but just at the bar room instead. Close enough into the city although don't really need to travel in due to so much being in and around St Helens it self. Glass museum also at back of hotel bout 10 minute walk if even. Fully recommended and will definitely return and cant wait to try the new food at the new restaurant as food looks amazing.

Short Stay

Posted 26-Jan-2015
Pros: Staff were helpful and polite at reception
Cons: The refurbished room was clean and tidy but there was an underlying smell of cigarettes.
The hotel seems to undergoing some refurbishments, which we were unaware of but this didn't affect our stay or comfort.

The only hotel in town

Posted 14-Jan-2015
Pros: the rates were reasonable, it was clean and the staff were helpful and pleasant
Cons: A complete makeover of the common area's. Introduce a functioning air conditioning/heating system for the rooms
Location: In a central location, handy for visits to St Helens Rugby League Club and The World of Glass attraction. Both are within easy walking distance
Chalon Court is undergoing some renovation and various dining facilities are unavailable, which wasn't made known at the time of booking. The atmosphere is souless and empty. The rooms are functionable and clean, however, the temperature controls are hopeless and ineffective. We had to request a heater to get warm, (one was brought promptly). St Helens has little choice in hotel accommodation and this is the only one in the centre of town. Probably only to be used if there is a need to be in a central location.

Hotel right in centre of St Helens

Posted 09-Jan-2015
Pros: Beds are so comfortable and big and staff are friendly and helpful.
Cons: Cold and draughty reception area although difficult to improve due to design, wifi in all rooms would be ideal, and windows that can open
Ideally located in centre of St Helens with gym however I did not personally use this facility, recently refurbished bedrooms with large comfortable beds and pillows, however the major letdown was the lack of wifi!
