Great location and even better staff!

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff are fantastic
Cons: We had a little issues with bugs. So maybe bug spray available maybe? Bugs are really beyond there control though.
Location: Right next to the heart of thira. Enjoy the views, amazing shopping and food.
The staff are amazing! They helped us from the very start to,the end. We checked in super early and they made the effort to get our room cleaned ASAP once the guest before us checked out. They helped us organise everything from cancelling car transfer to booking day trips. The hotel is 5 minute walk to Thira so it was nice and quiet.

Great stay - would highly recommend this hotel

A no frills hotel with terrific service, clean and well maintained rooms. The hotel management provided top quality service, were polite and very helpful when answering queries. Nothing was too difficult to provide, including coffees to your room when requested - without charge. Breakfast was very adequate which included toasted bread, cakes, cereals, fruit juices etc with great coffee. The hotel is in a great location to the major part of town with a 300 mtr walk. The excellent service that the hotel provided included picking you up from the airport without charge. It is a family operated business that tried extremely hard to please the customer - and succeeded in doing that.

Hotel convenient for Fira.

Posted 03-Oct-2013
Pros: Small, friendly and in a good location.
Cons: A fitted bottom sheet on the bed, perhaps. The fridge shuts down when the key is taken from the room which means the beer isn't as cold.
Location: All the restaurants in Fira are only a few minutes walk away. Ouserie, Stani and Mama's were good. A supermarket is passed when walking into Fira.
We had a very pleasant 9 night stay at the Astir Thira and it was everything that we expected it to be. Very friendly and helpful staff. A good room for the rate paid which was on the second floor and had a Caldera view of the cruise ships and the sunsets. The room has a fridge. There was a fair selection at the breakfast buffet with enough on offer to please. A nice pool with comfortable loungers. It is an excellent location for access into Fira as it is only a couple of minutes walk into the centre. We hired a car which we parked at the free public car park overnight as hotel parking is very limited which was no real hardship.

Astir Thira in Sept

Posted 17-Jan-2013
Pros: The friendliness of the staff
Cons: Just a bit cramped at breakfast time but manageable
Location: Very good location. Just a few minutes walk from Thira
My wife and I and two adult children stayed in the Astir in mid Sept. Our stay was very enjoyable and I can't be more complimentary to the family that run the Hotel.Very friendly and helpful with anything we requested of them. The pick up from the airport and drop off made it very convenient. The location of the hotel is a short walk from Thira which I considered more suitable than staying in the heart of the town. All in all my family had a very friendly stay and I would certainly stay in this hotel should I return to Santorini.

Astir Thira

Posted 22-Oct-2011
Hotel was clean and neat. Staff was helpful with some questions and helped with local car rental, but were not as quite as service oriented as most other hotels (3 nights and tiny soap bars never replaced, wifi claimed available in rooms but signal too low to attach). Wifi in lobby good, and there were available plugs. Breakfast ok, but fewer options than other lower-priced hotels. Short 5-min. walk from Thira city.

great pool & close to town

Great family hotel. Only a 5 minute walk from town and even shorter if you hire a car or scooter. Plenty of nearby parking. Rooms are clean too.

Nice Boutique Hotel

Posted 31-Oct-2010
We enjoyed this hotel and its knowledgeable staff. The only issue was getting baggage up and down the stairs, which although beautiful marble stairs, are difficult to haul suitcase up and down – we assisted a lady traveler with a large suitcase get her baggage downstairs. Would suggest that older travelers request a ground floor room The internet was free but available only in the lobby. Breakfast was adequate, although limited and always the same. There were no facecloths or Kleenex but that was true for all 5 hotels we stayed at in Greece. Over all, this is a well kept, well run small hotel. Traveler should be aware that it is not located exactly in the old part of Thira, but is a short walk.

Family run business and one of the daughters had a really bad attitude, which was unfortunate as the rest of the family was reasonable. Don't expect too much for breakfast and the mattresses are back breaking. However the hotel was clean and they arrange for free transfers to/from airport.
