“Lovely, relaxing resort with a beautiful beach and friendly staff”
Be Live Riviera Maya was beautiful...we expected a basic resort as it was such good value but we were amazed by the gorgeous beach, good food and friendly staff. The resort is very clean and we felt very well looked after, no one was bothering us and the staff were very helpful (we had an awful experience with United Airlines that lost our luggage for 2 days!). The food was great in the buffet and restaurants, especially Mexican cuisine, as were the drinks! The resort is best for couples and people wishing to relax, it's not a family resort which is just what we wanted. We are not used to all-inclusive holidays and I'm sure there are hotels much flashier than this one but we were very pleased and will be coming back next year.
“Nice view”
Hotel reportedly has changed hands again. Signs of wear and tear but it looks to be on the up swing (might have been 5 stars in its glory days but consensus that this is 3 stars is more accurate). Great location for relaxing away from the spring break scene. Good jumping off to sights south of Cancun. You won't get this close to the water for the money - we got an upgrade right on the beach which made the vacation something special. The cafeteria food is ok (missed real butter and the breads and desserts are a bit thin but good fruits and sauces). The specialty restaurants are good - get in line early to reserve a spot for one of the two seatings. Hosted events if you like as well as on scene agents for setting up your excursions. Although all inclusive, plan on tipping - especially for transportation and guides on excursions - bring $1s or convert some currency to pesos for a better deal. No direct access to water sports here other than free snorkel equipment. Though there is a reef, you'll find better experiences just up the coast - Akumal is nearby and guaranteed to see the turtles. Watch your beach towels - $15 if you lose one and we had one missing after room service. Take the local buses - collectivos - short walk from the hotel and much cheaper than a cab, clean, run every 10-15 minutes, and stop all one the way from Tulum to Cancun - take a trip into Playa del Carmen. It's a short walk from the stop into the 5th Ave strip.
“boring, not close to anything, shopping etc..pools etc close at dark.”
u r an hour n a half from everything.no night life at this hotel. everything closes at dark, pools, bar etc.. People were sitting around playing cards seemed like a nursing home at night. nice hotel, service is fine, food alright but no place for shopping nothing is close. 50.00 to go to Cancun n 50.00 to come back. everything they do sell is three times the price. example a snickers bar was 3.50. the few people they have come in to sell things are rip offs. fake purses they try to sell for ten times the amount. hotel needs more activities. they have ping pong, beach, pools, drinks, volley ball during the day . so bring yourself something to do all evening.we were there 9 days and I was going crazy in two days with boardum.
“We had an amazing time and the beach was beautiful!”
The staff was amazing (especially Martin and Oscar). Some tips: -Public transportation is the best way to get around since it is only $3 and has a far reach, such as Playa Del Carmen. You can pick it up at any avenue near the hotel (about a 5 min. walk). You just stand on the side of the street and the white van picks you up. I believe it runs 5am-1am. -There is a bellhop at the hotel named Oscar who speaks English flawlessly and is very helpful when it comes to finding out where/how to get around and get the best prices so find him if you need any help. He is great! -We wanted to go on a few tours and found that some of the best prices were offered at the WalMart in Playa Del Carmen. -The hotel is about 1-1.5 hours from the Cancun airport. If you want to save some money and your travel times allow, you can take a taxi into Playa Del Carmen and then take public transit to the hotel (they will actually drop you off right at the entrance to the hotel). -If you want to go to the Tulum ruins, you don't need to take an expensive tour since it's a public park and there is simply an entrance fee of approximately $7. There are several walking tours you can listen in on. -When you get to the hotel, ask for the restaurant schedule and activity schedule for the week since they don't automatically give it to you. -Get to the restaurants by 6pm to make reservations since they fill up fast. -Ask for double drinks so they are stronger and bring a coffee mug to keep them cold.
“not impressed wit this hotel”
the ocean was the best warm clear water and fish the room remote not working all taped up faucet for bathtub broken it needs a lot of update furniture smell terible i never unpacked and we arrived at 2;30 pm and waited two an half our for a room and the hotel was nor busy then we changed the room that was given to us in some corner, the food was good not great most of the time the same thing. we have been to mexico manny times so we know what to expect, this time it was a good deal for the money so we should not complaine the service in all restaurants were great . best of all was the beach. and the weather.
“worst experience ever, would never go back”
the first room that we were given, had a broken lock on the back door and the air did not work. The second room had no working air either. The third room was not much better and we decided to give up and stay in that one. However, the water shut off in the middle of a shower and the water was out in the whole complex for several hours. Then the electricity went out and was in and out all day. The room was never cleaned until after 6pm. On to the food and drink, You could not order drinks or soda until after 10 am and half of the restaurants were always closed. In order to get into one, you had to go at 630pm when it opened and either be one of the first in line or eat at the second seating, if available, at 830. BTW, the food was horrible. The beach was good but there was no wait staff to get drinks and you had to walk all the way down the beach to the only bar outside.
“Great Trip!”
We loved this resort! The van ride from the airport is about 90 minutes, but it was fun to sightsee along the way. Check in was fast and easy, no complaints there! The beach is absolutely stunning. We walked to Akumal and other resorts, Be Live had by far the prettiest beach, with lots of fun colorful fish for snorkeling. The beach was the best part of our trip, crystal clear water. This is not a "party" resort, it is very quiet and serene, which is what we were looking for, so perfect for us. Our expedia rep(Jaime) at the hotel was wonderful, helped us to book fishing trips and Xcaret. Our room was very cozy, air conditioning worked great, beds were really comfy. Our room was cleaned daily, the maids left us some fun towel decorations with fresh flowers everyday. Our minibar was stocked daily with soda and water also. Buffet is good, breakfast is great with made to order omelets. There is a snack menu that you can ask about with club sandwiches, burgers, etc. in case you get tired of the local fare. The ala carte restaurants were fun, food was really good there. The staff at this resort work so very hard to make sure it is clean and the guests are happy. We were very happy about our stay. Make sure to bring sunscreen, it is very expensive in the gift shop. If you can bring a large travel mug for drinks, do it! The bar glasses are rather small, but the bartenders are very accommodating. All in all, really relaxing and nice trip.
“New Hotel next time”
The beach and pools were beautiful. The hotel itself could have been cleaner. The food was just edible, nothing more. The staff was very friendly. November-December was a perfect time to visit Riviera Maya.
“Very nice hotel, with a beautiful beach”
A friend and I just recently stayed at Be Live in Riviera Maya, we had a wonderful time. The grounds where very well maintained, they were constantly cleaning. The beach was lovely we went snorkling almost everyday and there were tons of beautiful fish to look at. Also the staff was absolutely lovely they knew our names and spoke every time they saw us. I would definitely return. The only issues we had was there didn't seem to be enough wash clothes to go around. So I would suggest bringing your own. Also there wasn't enough variety at buffet. The food was good but the same things were served daily with maybe one or two things changed. However if you are looking for a good rexaling time, this is a great place.
“Three stars is a little to generous”
The pros: great sand and water, enough palapas. It didn't get cleaned quite enough. The main pool was okay - small but never crowded. The cons: The food was disgusting at both the buffet and restaurants. Only the breakfast was tolerable since there was an omelette station. The Asian and Mexican restaurants were terrible. The steak at the Mexican place seemed to have been boiled then fried. The drinks were so bad that we had to quit drinking by day 3 and we really just take these vacations for beaches and drinking. The liquor is cheap plus, they were definitely watering it down. Beer was served in 8 oz Dixie cups and was giving me headaches AS I was drinking it. The management failed miserably. We booked a room with a King size bed but got one with double bed. The only way to switch rooms was to check out at 11 and not get a new room until 3 pm, which we were willing to do without complaint. Once we got there a room was no longer available; one became available only after I was getting irate. If you don't make a scene you are stuck with double beds for your whole stay. Front desk doesn't even answer the phone. The fridge was not restocked, except for once after I went to the front desk 3 times. Other people were late because their room didn't have a clock (our first room didn't have one) and the front desk failed to call them. We only stayed 4 nights and that was all my husband and I could handle. wasn't ready to go home but I was ready to leave Be Live.
