“DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

THE HOWARD JOHNSON HOTEL IN REDDING CALIFORNIA WAS TERRIBLY DISGUSTING!!! I AM A GENERAL MANAGER IN ARCATA CALIFORNIA AT ARCATA REDWOOD INN AND I KNOW HOW A HOTEL SHOULD BE RAN, THE HOUSEKEEPING DEPT NEEDS HELP OUR ROOM WAS DISGUSTING THERE WAS BLOOD ON THE PILLOW, MARIJUANA ON THE FLOOR, MOLD IN THE SHOWER, AND DIRTY BLACK WALLS.... SERIOUSLY IT WAS GROSS WE SLEPT WITH ALL OF OUR CLOTHES ON, WE DID NOT FEEL SAFE

“Nasty little place in a bad neighborhood!!”

Found this place online to stop for the night while driving through from ID to So Cal. It was in a creepy & somewhat run down area of town with poor lighting in the parking lot. Once we got into our room (and locked all the deadbolts) it was stinky and very hot. So the first thing I went for was to turn on the A/C which was missing the whole front of the control panel & dial to adjust the temp. Also the vent, being old and worn out, kept closing. After heading back to the freeway in the morning we wished we spent a little more money and got a room from any of the hotels on the other side of the freeway in much better areas of town. All in all chalked it up to being cheap for a few hours of sleep and won't be staying there again!

“Horrible Hotel !!!!!”

This hotel is very ran down, rooms smelled bad, dirty, falling apart.

Area recommendations
Pay the ten dollars more an go to Baymont Inn very nice Hotel !

“Good for the price.”

The room key card would not scan and I had to keep walking back to the office to get the key re-scanned. The AC worked fine, but I think I just got lucky.

“worst dive ever”

I expected HoJo to be better than a motel 6 but is was worst motel I've ever stayed in. Doors falling off hinges, cracked paint, poor parking lot, uncomfortable beds, ice machine could not keep up, breakfast was weak, in need of many repairs....

“Need some areas worked on.”

Upon arriving at the hotel room my wife put water bottles in a small refrigerator. There was a foul smell coming out of it. I reported it to the front desk. During our stay the refrigerator continued to give off bad odor. I expected someone to clean it better or take it out for repairs or replacement. Our room TV had a remote that didn't have a menu on it for closed captioning. I was able to find a different remote in the breakfast area to use in my room. Everything else was just fine.

Area recommendations
Not sure. Haven't tried the other hotels yet. The area where we stayed was good.

“Where's the Service???”

There was: 1) no soap for washing hands or taking a shower. It was a good thing we brought some of our own...2) the air/heating unit was in the bath room and was litterally ready to fall on the floor. We didn't need to use it because the weather was nice. 3) the bed tilted down at the head so I had to turn myself around so my head was at the foot of the bed. OH, and by the way this was in a room designated for the disabled . The name Howard Johnson use to mean "quality", but whoever is in charge of quality furnishings or up-keep on rooms hasn't checked out some of the franchise owners and how they are keeping the properties in good working order. The room was clean, the right price and in an area we were familiar with.

Area recommendations
The Howard Johnson was close to the freeway but there was no freeway noise and that was great. There are several motels in the same area: Cypress & Hilltop in Redding, CA A safe area also with gas stations & eateries.
