“Best price out there!”
I am always taking my family to this motel when we are in Redding. I can not beat the price, and with the new paint inside I was very comfortable with our stay. During the Summer the swimming pool is the best.
“Overnighter BEWARE!!!”
The motel goes by the name “River Inn Redding”. I booked the room through Expedia and I just spent last night there. I have to say it was the most disgusting motel I have ever stayed in. It has a 3 star rating, but it should be ½ a star at best. They show you pictures of great rooms online, but when you book it, you get one of the rooms by the pool which I have a feeling are all bad. The smell in the lobby should have warned me. It was an old musty smell. The room itself was filthy and in disrepair. The carpet needed vacuuming. It had a smell like it had water damage at one time that wasn’t repaired. The fridge on the floor was not only still full with the last tenant’s leftover food, but was missing pieces off the front panel. Sitting on the edge of the bed squinting to look at the smallest TV that I ever had the displeasure of watching when my attention was diverted to watching a small bug dance across my nightstand. The front door had plenty of locks, but the back sliding glass window had the tiniest little lock that I am sure that my 8 year old niece could have pulled apart. At night while you try and sleep, you can hear every door slam in the building. So after a restless night of attempted sleep, I decided to make myself a cup of coffee, only to find that it still had some of the last tenant’s coffee still in the pot. I did take picture of all of this and more, except for the sliding window lock. (I forgot). Someone needs to change the rating to 1/2 star.
“A pool and the bridge”
Pretty cheap, basic but comfy with a fairly good pool and a good Mexican restaurant nearby which we really apprecaited. Near the Sundial bridge which was awesome. The hotel in process of changing its name so it could be hard to locate until it does. We had to get directions from the gas station owner who called the hotel for us.
“will not be back”
we were near the place we were going to and it was easy to find. but as the desk clerk said it was an old motel. I would not take my kids there again.
“Fine older hotel”
While the hotel room was older and a bit rundown (yes, there were cigarette burns in the bedspreads) the room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel is off the 5 corridor, which is what we were looking for. The swimming pool was clean and sparkling. We did have an issue with a dog rushing out of a hotel room as we were walking past- so remember it is a hotel that allows pets if you have someone in your party that is afraid of dogs. (This incident I blame on the hotel guest who should have had their pet secured or the hotel door closed - and do/did not hold the hotel responisble.) The Mexican restaurant next door had wonderful foods at terrific prices. I would eat there again if we lived close enough. Very nice friendly service there as well.
“Not impressed”
Room said no smoking but room smelled like smoke. Air conditioning sub par didn't work well. Pool was very comfortable and clean.
“Cecilia from San Fernado Valley”
The hotel and the area were okay, for the price nice, clean and quiet. Neaby Turtle bay, 15 minutes away from Shasta Caverns.
“?????”
ok for the money I guess but pretty dirty.
“Good Location”
We have stayed here before, but it has been a few years back. It is evidently under new management. It is apparent that attempts are being made to repair things, and there are many things that need to be replaced or updated, for instance the microwaves in lobby and in our room were badly dented and the faucet handles were corroded. But at least everything worked properly. It is also badly in need of new paint and carpet in the hallways and it really does need new or improved landscaping. The flower beds, bushes etc. have really been neglected and with just a little regular maintenance it would greatly improve the looks of this place. There is great potential here. We really do like the location, close to freeway access, Turtle Bay and Sundial Bridge as well as to downtown businesses, and local shopping malls and restaurants. Also the continental breakfast was very limited, not even a banana or other fruit, only coffee and prepackaged pasteries all three days of our stay, bananas or orange juice, or small boxes of cereal or packaged instant oatmeal would be some very inexpensive additions that would offer a healthier alternative.
“Great place to get a few hours of shut-eye...but little else”
This motel was probably the cheapest place I've ever stayed at...and I don't mean least expensive. Imagine walking down a hallway that you'd only see in a video game, with the poor lighting, bright orange carpet that might be tearing up in certain parts, walls that should have been painted recently... Then you enter the room, magnetic keycards are provided, so it's not totally in the stone age. Although inside the room you might think otherwise. I went to check out my view and noticed there was only a lock on the sliding glass door, there was no way to secure it further...no bar on the window nor clip to prevent the door from opening...just a lock... The view was great, there was a little patio with no fencing with a couple pavers inbetween the patio and the parking lot, which made it super easy to get stuff in and out of the room. If you're looking for a couple hours of shut-eye near the freeway and don't mind feeling a little unsafe, but not too bad...this is your place. I wasn't concerned about my car getting broken into as there's someone at the desk 24/7 and the front desk overlooks some of the parking. Would I recommend this hotel to others? Not especially, but for the weary traveler who can't make it to Sacramento or Medford and need a couple hours of sleep, this is a decent stop. Staff EXTREMELY friendly, which was the best part of the stay. The pool area doesn't seem safe either.
