I love the hotel - very funky and fun. And the Grassmarket location was fantastic. My only issue was a leak in the ceiling that leaked into the bed. However, as soon as I let the hotel staff know, they moved me to an upgraded room right away. The customer service was excellent. I would definitely stay here again.
Great breakfast made fresh to your liking. Great location no need for public transportation
Parking was expensive. Rooms OK small but clean. Bathroom small. No lift we were on the third floor. We were unaware that this was a hostel!!!
"Excellent location for an event at Dynamic Earth"
We were delighted to find the hotel was so close to Dynamic Earth as well as Holyrood, the Royal Mile and the Scottish Parliament.
The room was quiet, comfortable and not too warm. The bathroom was clean and brightly decorated. Perhaps a brighter light and magnified mirror would make it easier for puting on ones make-up.
We enjoyed a hearty, freshly cooked Scottish breakfast.
We will be back.
My family and I stayed at the G&V for our three nights in Scotland. This hotel is fairly new and has been updated. The decor in places is a little funky/glam with bold colors like purple, pink and black but nothing that ever really put me off. Very nice helpful staff on check in and elsewhere. Our room was one of the bigger ones because we got a room with a sleeper sofa for my son. Even so the room was not overly large but what you would expect in the UK. One big plus we really liked was that the room had a mini fridge partially stocked with drinks and a few nibbles which was complimentary! I don't know if this is always the case, but we loved it so I would ask if you book a room. The shower in this bathroom was the best of three hotels I stayed in during my visit to the UK. I looked forward to it at the end of each day. The bed was also quite comfortable. Our stay included a free breakfast which gave you all the continental breakfast choices plus a few more choices with eggs and ham, salmon, etc.
With narrow, winding streets and alleys, this mediaeval district is a contrast to New Town. Acting as the main artery, the Royal Mile begins at Edinburgh Castle and ends at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Family’s residence. Many tourist attractions are found in Old Town including the National Galleries, Royal Museum, and St. Giles Cathedral.
