You get what you pay for.

Stayed in this hotel after we had been on a hen do which got back to Scarborough in the early hours. Rooms were clean and parking relatively near is cheap (£2 for 24 hours). There seemed to be a lot of banging and groaning of things in the building during the night which didn't result in a great night's sleep, beds are of a so-so quality comfort wise. Breakfast was slightly disappointing, we went down at 8.50am (breakfast 8 - 9.30) most tables were full of used crockery which hadn't been cleared yet, bread had ran out, most food seemed to be of the Tesco own brand variety, tea tasted like dishwater. No hot food was offered. We only paid £45 for a twin room so I guess you get what you pay for. If you are wanting a clean place to stay and rest your head, this will probably do for you.

the hotel with the narnia bathroom

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Pros: it was ideal for access to both the sea front and the town centre yet just enough off the beaten track to be quiet & peaceful
Cons: although the rooms were clean they were also very very tired and could do with a little TLC providing bacon for breakfast would also help!!
Location: its scarbourough so there are lots of things to see, like fat girls in overtight stretched leggings eating chips and men in vests walk pittbulls
on arrival at the hotel we rang the bell at reception ( in reallity a lectern by a door marked office) and waited...and waited...and waited, eventually having been issued keys i was given a room which i can only describe as authentic ( in a northern seaside town type of way). i had booked an ensuite room and proceeded to look for the bathroom, upon opening a third door on the emulsion painted MDF wardrobe i was surprised to find not a collection of bent wire coat hangers but instead a mouldy damp ecosystem cunningly disguised as toilet room. After the initial shock of finding yorkshires equivalent of cornwalls eden project in a really small broom cupboard in my room, imagine my surprise to find it also contained a shower ( whoever built the room probably also built the Dr WHO's TARDIS) the shower although compact with a shower tray the consistancy of spongy grass was infact warm and powerful however as hotel rooms are only generally for sleeping in i can say the bed was comfortable and the linen clean and fresh. the room was spotless (indoor water feature excluded!!) and there was plenty of tea and coffee available. although i was on the ground floor i heard very little noise throughout the night and slept soundly. as has been said before the breakfast in this hotel is continental ( ie purchased at ALDI) but there is plenty of it if you like that sort of thing or a great cafe on the harbour doing a fabulous full english. i would say a perfect contractors hotel.

Family room (room 15) on 1st floor was directly above the hotel bar which was very noisy however we were moved when we raised this issue with the staff. The initial room has seen better days and has not been modernised in the last 3 years in which we've used the same hotel (and had the same room) but the 2nd floor room (room 20) to which we were moved was good quality for the price and very quiet.

Basic, good location

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Pros: Good location
Cons: Breakfast is only served 8-9am and waiting staff seemed confused and unhelpful
I stayed in a single room on the top floor. Its nothing special, but it was a cheap, clean and comfortable place to spend the night close to the beach and town centre.

very comfortable bed

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: when we arrived at the hotel staff were very welcoming and efficient
Cons: some maintenance needed, and abit of tlc but nothing major.A wider selection at breakfast would have been more pleasing
Location: the hotel was in an ideal location within ten minutes walking distance from the town and transport links
adequate tv and tea making facilities in the room with extra tea and coffee sachets available in the reception area if or when you want them. the rooms where warm and the bed was amazing, most comfortable nights sleep ive had in a while!

Two different rooms

Posted 05-Aug-2014
Our first night wasn't very pleasant on the 3rd floor! The room was basic and not very comfortable. The following day, we asked for a different one and were quite surprised with the quality! The staff is very friendly, we can't fault the workers but the hotel could use some tlc and then it doesn't matter which room one is allocated.

Posted 02-Aug-2014
Pros: closness to the beach
Cons: The hotel is a lovely building needs some redecorating and tlc
Location: location of the hotel is fab 10 mins walk to the beach and seafront
hotel is run down needs decorating and modernising windows were painted shut in our room ! slug slime all over dining room carpet and mouldy bread at the table ! wallpaper hanging off the walls and lino in bathroom was disgusting .Storage draws were falling to bits the handle on the door was very loose and as for the continental breakfast well toast (mouldy bread ! ) cereals and a few yogurts croissants still left in packaging and nutella was out of date .Hotel bar was closed sat and sunday night then when open the entertainment was so loud it kept our children awake until after midnight during the week . This hotel is a modern day fawlty towers and would def not stay again .The only good thing about our stay was the friendly staff who were fabulous !

You may go hungry

Posted 23-Jul-2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Total refurbishment and hire a cook
I could have stayed elsewhere in Scarborough for less money and got a proper breakfast included. The hotel reminded me of Fawlty Towers with its 1970's wood chip wall paper that has been painted over about 100 times and a room that was filthy except for clean linen on the bed. Breakfast is a joke if you stay here save yourself the trouble of going down to the "restaurant" and go straight out to a cafe.
