“Real treasure is always hard to find!”

As with any online hotel booking in Muscat, you never quite know where you'll end up! From reading the booking website we thought this hotel was centrally located in Mutrah. It isn't- it's way out near the Grand Mosque. Luckily we had a car, but if you are relying on taxis to see the sites in Muscat you might want to choose other options. The hotel itself, however, is extremely well-appointed and comfortable. We were there at low season and the kitchen was closed but the staff made sure we had meals by ordering in for us from a local cafe, at reasonable prices. The food was excellent. There was a problem with the electronic room key, but that was fixed promptly. The decor was pleasant, internet was free, taxis were available on call, but we were quoted one rate for a taxi to the airport, and their own brochure showing the hotel's standard rates stated a higher one, as the taxi driver pointed out! I think that was just an oversight by a trainee staff member. I would recommend this hotel, but it might be preferable for persons requiring access to the airport, rather than those wishing to spend time in central Muscat.

“Zen lover's dream”

We had a short stay in this hotel and our overall experience is very good. The hotel is very well designed with minimal intrusions. Very nice pools with peacefull sourroundings. If you want tranquility this is the hotel for you. Food is also very good. We ate Indian and it was excellent. Few caviats; mention in your reservation, your arrival time and room preference. Also reserve a table if you want to eat in the garden in advance.

“Hotel was a treasure”

The Hotel was pleasant and convenient to the airport. It was was easy to find seeing that it is the first exit past the Grand Mosque. If you want directions to anywhere you can ask for directions to the Mosque or even see signs to the airport so driving directions is not that difficult. I was out early every morning but did take advantage of the hot breakfast and cook to order omelets.

“Good modern clean hotel”

If you are after a clean hotel with modern amenities and hot shower, this is the place to go...and reasonably priced. The hotel is quite new with modern rooms and clean. The location is slightly remote but within 15 minutes drive from the airport. Room service was excellent and the food very good for this type of establishment.

“Comfortable hotel at a reasonable price for the touring visitor”

We stayed at the Treasurebox for 4 nights just before Easter. We did not want a hotel with extensive leisure facilities; more a comfortable bed & breakfast & the Treasurebox met our requirements at a reasonable price for Muscat. We had a superior bedroom that was clean, comfortable, well-appointed & quite spacious. The complementary buffet breakfast was sufficient comprising the usual range of cereals, fruit, cheeses, cold meats etc with some hot options. The staff were friendly & helpful. Note that the location details are wrong. The map on the hotel's own website gives the correct location which is about halfway between the airport and Muttrah/Old Muscat close to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Unless you have a car, taxis are the only realistic option to get about as Muscat is spread over a wide area with limited scope for walking. Our taxi driver, Saleh (contactable via the hotel), who we used throughout our stay, was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, spoke good English & did not over charge.

“Not worth the money”

After we finally found the hotel (it was impossible to find in this very residential neighborhood), we were happy with our room. However, finding restaurants - or just exploring the city - was a bit more complicated. The hotel was 30 minutes from Mutrah-Muscat by car, and was overpriced for its far away location. Even though the room came with breakfast, it was an underwhelming breakfast to say the least.

“Best for value and airport close-by hotel”

As my trip on next day was early morning, I was looking for a hotel which is close by the airport, with acceptable room fare. It is very clean room and excellent bathroom. Also somewhat specious. The reception Omani guy was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is located far from major shops/restaurant, however, small grocery shop with most needed items is just next to the hotel. Also you can order Pizza-hut or similar fast/food delivery services to the hotel. I enjoyed my stay and I recommend this for long stay business trips as well.

“Schade um das an sich sehr schöne Hotel”

Wir waren Anfang Dez. 2011 in diesem Hotel. Der Service war von Anfang (Abholung am Flughafen, lt. Ihrer Beschreibung sollte es einen Shuttlebus geben), nicht vorhanden bzw. grottenschlecht. Unsere Buchung war für 4 Personen mit Gepäck, gekommen ist nach nochmaligem Anruf ein kleines Taxi, so dass wir nochmals warten mussten bis ein 2. gekommen ist, insgesamt über 1 Stunde um Mitternacht!! Das sogenannte "Frühstücksbüffett" kann man nur als Witz bezeichnen: ein paar hingeworfene Scheiben Toast, Kaffee fast so dünn wie Wasser, ein bisschen Marmelade, Joghurt und Butter. Das war das ganze Büffett!! Auf Nachfrage, bezw. Beschwerde gabs dann noch ein Omlett. Das Personal so lustlos wie ich es noch nirgends erlebt habe und unter Österreichischer Leitung ist es auch nicht sondern unter indischer! Kein Kofferträger weit und breit. Das Hotel an sich wäre sehr schön auch die Zimmer aber der Service vermiest einem alles.
