“Moscow Oct 2011”
Hotel staff spoke English well;gave excellent directions to the metro.
“Not close to subway”
Do not forget write in your reservation that you request air conditioner, otherwise you will get room without it. Breakfast was good.
“Reasonably priced and decent service.”
The Irbis is a good hotel with friendly, English-speaking staff. The breakfast buffet offers a good range of decent quality food (yoghurts, eggs, bacon, cereals). The room was clean and large, and the en suite bathroom although not very modern, was similarly clean and more than acceptable. On the down side the wifi was really, really slow. There is a free 1 hour option or a 300 ruble (9€) 24 hour option. Make sure you're careful which button you click - if you pay for it you'll be especially disappointed. Nice quiet location, but you'll have to take public transport to get anywhere. I only needed to get to the VDNCh (exhibition centre), a trolley-bus ride away, but in rush hour it's horribly slow.
“Affordable price AND great service”
This was my second visit to Moscow, so I knew a little what to expect when it comes to finding a hotel on a budget. I'm a 30 year actor who has spent many years living in hotels while on tour. I was completely blown away by the customer service and quality of this hotel. The staff where all so nice, and spoke excellent English. You get so much bang for your buck here. There big down side that all people should be aware of is location: you are not staying on Red Square. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the Metro and a good 6 stops from downtown. I did not mind at all the commune (being from New York City). But travelers with children might. That said, I would definitely stay here again.
“Good value”
Convinient location; good value compared to rest of the overpiced hotels in Moscow
“V S Ramanarayanan-India”
Though this hotel is little far from ciry center. IT is neatly maintained. Staff speak English. WI-FI available in room, which is very convenient to business Travellers. Also Buffet Breakfast is very good.
“One of Moscow's secrets”
This is my third stay in this hotel, and I am very pleased. The restaraunt offers a good selection, the breakfast is very healthy and filling, and the staff all seem to put the guests first.
“I Will Return”
I liked this hotel! Some complained of the location, but I visited in the middle of winter and even with the ice and/or snow on the path, it took only about 7 minutes to walk to the Metro station. I returned to the hotel after dark and felt quite safe and secure. The hotel itself was clean and in reasonably good condition, certainly not run down or in need of major maintenance. Staff spoke English well and were very helpful with advice on which metro stop you would need for tourist spots etc.
“Moscow”
A good hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was good and the rooms were clean if not a bit on the small side. We travelled with a 3 year old child and they provided her with a lovely teddy bear on arrival and were very helpful in providing us with an extra bed for her which was done straight away. Although a bit far out of the centre the staff were helpful in their directions and the taxis they booked arrived on time and were no more expensive than others. I would recommend this hotel for those who want to see more than just the city centre.
“Value for money”
Irbis Hotel convenient good service and value for money,
