We intentionally chose a riad away from the square which, although required a longer walk, was a great choice. We were able to venture out and buy food and gifts at Moroccan prices.
The owner was super helpful and offered us a larger room if we wanted. We stayed here twice, both different rooms, but with their own unique charm and although there was a size difference both were great.
The staff were very nice even though there was some language barriers.
I was worried about our breakfast- fairly simple but good- on the last day as we had to be out by 7am, but a staff member was arranged to be up at 630am (an hour earlier than regular times) so that we wouldn't miss breakfast, that was a much appreciated bonus.
It could probably do with a sign right at the entrance as for the inexperienced traveller you may feel you have gone to the completely wrong place until you walk around the corner,.
Had a great time at Tigmiza. Stayed in Villa 4, staff were excellent. Perfect couples retreat. Will come back for a long weekend, shortish flight, transfer arranged by hotel and relaxation from time we checked in to time we left.

I visited this hotel for a weekend (saturday to monday) with my sister (aged 21 and 23) and we loved it. Upon arrival the external looks extremely inviting and when you enter it gets even better. I can honestly say the pictures do not lie. We received complementary Moroccan mint tea on arrival which introduces you to the Moroccan feel. Neither of us speak French (just the basics that you learn in secondary school) but the majority of the staff are multilingual which is extremely helpful. The meals are set as a buffet which offers a huge selection for all three meals of the day which would cater for all, though the dessert selection wasn't quite to our taste. There are quite a few facilities available as well as live entertainment for the whole family. My sister struggled to connect to the wifi, we're not sure if its just her phone or the signal is weak because I always managed to stay connected. The only real negatives I would say is it is a little far out from the part of the city where you can find bars and shops but I would say that's the more 'British' side so for a real Moroccan experience using the free shuttle around that side of the city is definitely more than satisfying. In Morocco they use plug sockets with two holes, so try to bring one with you. Also, people are allowed to smoke in the bar where the entertainment takes place so if you hate smoke that may be an issue. Overall, we were both extremely happy with our trip. A great value for money!
When we first arrived in Marrakech we had some trepidation when we walked the alleyways towards the hotel but when we reached there what we saw was beyond our imagination , from the architectural splendour to the courteous staff who could not have done anymore to make our stay more pleasurable . From the staff singing happy birthday to my wife to decorating our room in flowers for her birthday. The hotel was the best place in Marrakech and I highly recommend it .
