“Cheap and comfortable but creepy neighborhood”
Comfort and room was totally okay, can't expect more for that price but I would recommend to have an own car cause especially in the night, I wouldn't walk through the streets there, its supercreepy and you should take some earplugs or keep the windows open cause there is police sirens all night long. Moreover, they were really friendly and willing to help and as said before, besides the sourrounding, its a nice place to stay for low money.
“Great cheap hotel in central location”
This place is somewhere between hostel and hotel (actually 'Stay on Main' seems to be the cheap rooms of the next-door Cecil Hotel). The rooms are really quite nicely decorated and very comfortable. Very helpful staff and good facilities. I will stay here again whenever I come to LA.
“NO WAY”
Maybe I was expecting to much, but this was terrible. I made the mistake of not reading the discription of the package. I am not in college, why would I want to go to the shower down the hall or the toliet. I had them up-grade my room and for the next three rooms the sink was in the room with me while the toliet and bath were in a different place. It was cold at night and there was no heater in the first two rooms and the third heater did not work. They gave us blankets(?). In each one of these rooms the TV stopped working after 15-20 minutes and that was that for them Finally I was given a room that had a heater and a full bathroom (small, but full). The TV stopped working after about the first hour and the maintence guy said turn it off for a while and then turn it back on. We were there for three nites, the TV stayed on all the time for fear of it not working again. I do not reccomend this place to anyone. The staff did there jobs except the guy who got breakfast (ha, Ha) ready. He believed that cold water was how you made oatmeal, yuk!!!
“I stayed on Main”
This Hostel was fun and photogenic. I enjoyed the location and access to busses food and subways, I did not enjoy the fact that you had to leave the semi-comfort of your room to sit in the area commons to enjoy Wi-Fi. There were MANY restrooms and showers to share, Disliked having to rush to my room to wash my hands after using the sinkless bathroom though. Pretty pricey for a Hostel. more likes then dislikes overall.
“More like a hostel...”
We stayed in a room without a toilet or shower so essential it was a hostel. I'm not sure about the other rooms but that was the layout of ours. The location is good, the hotel was clean enough and the price is decent. Overall, I do recommend this to the weary travel just seeking a place to crash the night.
“Only for bargain seekers”
In my opinion the hotel worth the price. Go here if you want a cheap hotel with relatively good services. Location is not fun at all in the night tough ( I would never go out to the street alone in the night being a girl there) but very close to Metro and in general for this price the service and the rooms are OK as well.
“Bring your ear plugs”
Located in LA fashion district. The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Howvever, the wall were paper-thin, and the halls are tiled in marble. My room had a bath, but I was just across from a communal shower & bath, with people coming & going almost all night (heels on marble, people talking - even whispers carried). I was at the back of the hotel, & trucks were loading & unloading things (with backup beeping) most of the night & into the morning. I was on the 6th floor & felt like I was at the loading dock. Also, there was a homeless person shouting almost continuously -- every 3-10 secs until 2am, then resumed at 7am. Not the hotel's fault, but it felt like the exterior & interior walls were equally thin & created a challenge for sleep, as I had no ear plugs.
“Not good”
Sharing a shower room is terrible!!!
“Very impressed.”
I got alot more worth out of the little money I spent. for what it cost it was a very nice place! It looks great and it a fun environment. I have no complaints. It is very chic. The rooms look great. they are decorated really nicely. It has a nice urban view. Also if you get hot there is always a window and fan. You can create all types of lighting in the room. If you want nice and bright you can do that. If you want it low or warm lighting that can be done also. Bathrooms are clean and private so that is nice also. The hotel has also recently been remodeled. The bed is nice with soft, warm sheets. You definitely do not get the cheep motel feeling at this place. It does not feel cheep, tacty, or gross. Wonderful place. It is also near alot of great places to get, the fashion district in LA, union station, public transportation, and much more.
“Staying @ Stay”
Overall for the money a great hotel, or perhaps I should say a very up-market back packers, with mostly shared bathrooms and a breakfast of instant coffee and cereal Centrally located on Main St, close to all DTLA attractions and some hip bars and clubs, the price can't be beat, but be ready for uncomfortable beds and pillow, and front desk staff that can be a little bristly
