Ko Phangan, Ko Samui Hotels

This mountainous fishing island to the north of Ko Samui is, for much of the year, a quiet place to really get away from it all, although things do liven up every 30 days for the island’s monthly Full Moon Party. Hilltop Wat Khao Tham hosts 10-day Buddhist meditation retreats, and the island’s snorkeling is among Thailand’s best. You can only get here by boat; ferries run regularly to Ko Samui, Ko Tao, and Surat.
